Begging must be experiencing a downturn in the aftermath of Capitol protests.
Obviously the victim wasn't aware of the Jane Jetson maneuver....

I hope the dude that tries that can run faster than a speeding bullet. Wait that won’t happen because I wouldn’t offer a bum the dollar in the first place.

How naive (the well-meaning victim, I mean).
Even when I attended Berkeley for two years, with its streets strewn with obviously able-bodied beggars, EVEN THERE the liberals I knew didn’t give out cash.

what's really weird is when they give you your money back, which has actually happened to me twice in NYC.

Begging must be experiencing a downturn in the aftermath of Capitol protests. I think they need to organize.

Anyone who suffers pangs of pity or guilt for the poor should try working directly with them for a period of time.

I never give money to beggars because they will only spend it on cheap wine and tobacco. I prefer to donate to homeless shelters where they can get food and shelter.

Good intentions bites you in the ass every time.
Most of these beggars have extensive criminal records, which is why they are on the street begging. Why even get near them? When I see then on the street, I'm thinking of self-defense.

Probably a lil’ too young to know about The Jetsons, lol.
The kid made two big mistakes here, IMHO.
#1 is obvious - don’t give money to beggars. I know the kid’s only 19, and probably thought he was helping. But it really isn’t in most cases. Better to support organizations that assist the folks who really are trying to get back on their feet instead.
#2 Never pull out a wad of bills in front of strangers. Don’t know how much the kid had (probably not a whole lot), but he advertised it to anyone who might be watching.
