Today is the day she may walk free. Prepare yourselves.
Call me Pollyanna, but the Judge did give FingerBoy 6 days. Hopefully he has scoured the law so she can cool her heels a little longer.
This case is eliciting strong emotions all around for sure!
At the hearing the defense tried to assert that the four false statements in counts 4,5,6 & 7 shoud be considered only one false statement to avoid double jeopardy. Defense said they were uttered in one continous conversation.
State objected, giving the judge legal precedent as to why this was not true. Statements were made at least at three seperate time frames over a 12 hour period.
Judge agreed with State. Ruled that Casey has to serve four one year terms—consecutively—for the false statements, and that jury had spoken loud and clear on the issue.
Judge and attorneys have to do the math, as Casey will be credited for time served against the four year sentence.
Then went over appeal process—30 days to appeal his verdict.
Most likely she will be free before August 1st.
Who killed the child?
No idea on the previous stuff. That is what the meeting is about in August.
I am just going by what I was able to glean from the FLA DOC site.
No, she won’t be free by August.
I get the impression that there may be more time left for Casey than we think. Seems she wasn’t held on these chrages all the times she was in and out of the jail.
It works just as you figured, Fawn. She has already served three years, good behavior, blah blah. The Judge said on Fox that she may be out in a month...Phil Keating just told Bill Hemmer that she’d be out in Feb. which fits more with your equation.
I agree. Hubby says they should release her so she can begin her life in hell.
Where was the one juror, who saw this train wreck coming in the jury room, to at least hang the jury to give the state another chance. One juror could have stood their ground. Not one did.
She was stone faced....the whole dang family has that look down pat.
Oops—she’ll be out in seven months or so. August was for appeal hearing.
Agreed. Not a single Henry Fonda in the room.
I see you've been drinkng the bong water again. Go away, the adults want to talk sense here. Go back to day dreaming about woodstock, headbands and VW buses.
HLN has some idiot on lecturing the protesters who are unhappy with the verdict...he needs to STFU! I had to tune out HLN...it was my standby......FOX has Geraldo......gag me. I need to get out of this mess I am going crazy with it.
Due to the high profile nature of this case and intense, emotional interest by the public, appropriate measures will be taken to release the individual into the community in such a manner so as to preserve the safety of the individual and the public, Orange County Corrections Department spokesman Allen Moore said.
(snip)
I believe shes already been bombarded as we speak by publishers and agents, said Linda Konner, president of the Linda Konner Literary Agency, based in New York. I think theres a lot of interest when youre dealing with mother and dead child.
Konner said a Casey Anthony memoir could fetch a half-million dollars or more, and she would be interested herself in securing the rights.
The judge in the case could order that any such proceeds be used to repay the costs of the search for Caylee, said Karin Moore, a law professor at Florida A&M University.
‘morning, old FRiend.
Yes, I would think that instead of wasting everyone’s time on the “double jeopardy” issue, the defense would have anticpated this outcome, and presented their calculations to the court already for time served.
I can only hope Casey will be treated as a pariah for the rest of her days.
If she isn’t the killer, she sure as hell knows who is and what happened. Her lies are proof of her complicity.
The State did not prove who killed Caylee or how she was killed. But there was enough evidence to convict on the manslaughter charge, in my opinion.
Apparently the jury felt otherwise.
Is Geraldo still preaching how she is Mother of the Year? I’m sure he is just dying to get the first interview...he makes my skin crawl.
Sorry, free speech buddy. Those people not only have every right to protest but have every right to assess the jury. Did you notice they did not clobber the a-hole with the pro-Casey sign who waded right into the middle of them?
You are correct—made the correction in post # 232.
