LIBERTY, Texas (AP) — More than a dozen men accused of taking part in a series of sexual assaults on an 11-year-old girl are expected in court Wednesday in a case that has divided and horrified their southeast Texas town.
The 14 men, who along with five juvenile boys are facing charges, are scheduled to be in a state district courtroom in Liberty for status updates. The investigation began in December, after one of the girl's friends told a teacher he had seen a lurid cell phone video that showed the girl being raped in an abandoned trailer.
Authorities say the girl was assaulted on at least five occasions, sometimes by as many as seven or eight young men or boys at a time, from mid-September to early December in Cleveland, a small city about 45 miles northeast of Houston. The suspects range in age from a middle-school student to a 27-year-old, and include two star athletes at the local high school as well as adults with criminal records.

I'm throwing that out there not because I'm a bigot but because I saw this same article over on DU and several posters seem to think this some kind of a "Texas thing" and; therefore, a conservative thing. Let's be clear here DUmmies, these perpetrators aren't Republicans, they are perfectly representative of the democratic party however. Now the conservatives are going to have to convict them and toss them into prison for a good part of the rest of their lives and the Democrats will then be accusing us of being "Draconian" and "racist".

In Nashville and Memphis we see alot of black on hispanic crimes because of the “general knowledge or assumption” amongst blacks that hispanics won’t call the police to report the crime.
I am familiar with Liberty TX. Mainly, you don’t want to go there...IMHO.

I don’t see the connection between demorat or republican. The race question is only a factor if it can be proven that the feral yuts intentionally raped the girl because she is hispanic.
With that said, hang ‘em high if found guilty. Rape used to be a capital crime— I think it needs to be revisited.

Title says the child is Mexican, but the text of the article just says her parents are immigrants, no mention of whether they are legal or not.
We don’t know whether she’s Mexican or a US citizen. There are plenty of good Hispanic folks here in Texas who are both legal and law-abiding.
Just saying. Let’s not throw darts at the victim. Title should say “Hispanic” instead of “Mexican,” if a description must be added.
Bottom line to me is that an 11-year-old child is in pain caused by others.
Nothing wrong with liberty, this happened in cleveland, Liberty is the county seat. Now, I have not read this article completely but I remember the case. The girl is/was a very mature and developed kid. Yes the statutory rapes happened over a couple of weeks.Yes the girl was out asking and looking for the sexcapades. Yes it is wrong for everyone that was involved.No, the girl was not forced.

I’m from Liberty County. The crime was committed in Cleveland Texas, opposite end of the county. Liberty is the County Seat, that’s where the Courthouse is located. For the most part its a rural county with just a few small cities.
A democrat has little to no chance getting elected in Liberty County.

No pictures and only the word “men” indicates it’s a minority.
You should tell them at DU. Let this be a lesson anytime there is not a picture or description of the suspects, then you can rest assure its a minority group.
