That starts in Newspapers, periodicals and on commercials. Grammar and syntax are the tools of communication. If I kept my toolkit as rust and badly maintained as today’s “professional” (as in, “paid”) communicators, I wouldn’t be able to design a simple read and spew report, much less complex systems used by or for thousands of people and billions of dollars.
It seems I spend half my life completing the sentence (from radio and TV ads): “I/we won’t be beat” (”-EN!” I shout)
(of course, when posting a rant like this I expect the grammar police to swoop down upon me, but it is a risk that take I will...)
