Casey and Cindy did try to pin it on the boyfriend!
Cindy told Padilla, the bounty hunter that he needed to investigate Tony, that he knew more than he was telling. all the while, the ONLY person who knew , Cindy was protecting from any questions.
figures... Casey knows well what sof lies work.
Her ONLY hope, IMO, would have been to convince the jury that it was POSSIBLE for someone else to have done it... easier to do that with a boyfriend.
With all the stories about boyfriends harming children, I think that was a normal grandma reaction- I don’t think it would occur to most mothers to immediately suspect their daughter murdered their grandaughter. Even if she had her suspicions of Casey- at that point the thought was probably too horrific for her to verbalize. When the story first broke I thought someone she was partying with was responsible...It is just so hard to think of a mother killing her own child- we all know it happens but we have a hard time accepting it.
Has the boyfriend had anything to say about this? I imagine he would be freaked out that he was dating someone capable of murdering her child. I know everyone compares this to the Scott Peterson case but I think it is also related to the Susan Smith case. The story was that Susan killed her children because the man she was interested in was not “into” children. I have heard that Casey’s boyfriend did not want her to bring Caylee to overnight at his house as he thought it was not appropriate. Casey seemed to really be into him and it seems she may have thought it was just too much trouble to find care for Caylee so she could spend time with the boyfriend. Truly creepy.
