Game of thrones is the greatest show I have seen on tv for quite a while. Cant wait for the next season, actually Im looking to get the books but Im not sure whether to read ahead or read each book after I have watched a season.
Boardwalk empire is pretty amazing aswell.
On to the topic of breasts, there is nothing wrong with showing breasts on tv, I mean if its not completely tasteless. In any case those shows are not geared towards younger audiences, and the violence is far more inappropriate for children than any tit can be.

While there is no accounting for taste....

I thought the Sopranos was a unique and exceptional series that other cable shows will be hard pressed to top. Rome was also an exceptional series. Both offered great storytelling and were highly entertaining. First class acting and writing. IMHO, Big Love may not have appealed to some folks, but it's a cult classic for the ages.

Of the more recent series on HBO, it all looks like standard fare. No originality whatsoever.

Seems like the author thought she had a point but, for the life of me, I can’t figure out what it was.

Although, someone who refers to The Sopranos as having “magic” is clueless, in my book.

I think there are trends in movies and entertainment. In the later 1960s, breasts, which had been forbidden, were suddenly exposed, and usually in a violent or chaotic context.

Then in the 1970s, there was more relaxed exposure, but the emphasis was on small breasts. The 1980s, far fewer breasts, and by the late ‘80’s and early ‘90’s, breasts did not exist. Nor did dresses and skirts, or even styled hair. Women wore pants.

Using TV for comparison, think of the women of the original Star Trek, either in miniskirts or almost see through designer outfits and risque alien costumes, and amazingly styled hair (heck, even the men got to be a lot more daring in outfits and hairstyles.)

Then compare them with the unisexual costumes in Space: 1999 or even Star Trek TNG.

Though Hollywood still abhors them, I would adore seeing TV shows with women wearing Star Trek TOS type fashions and hair.

Breasts come, and breasts go, but they are always there.

In one episode of "Game of Thrones," the upper frontals got so gratuitous — two women teaching themselves the tricks of prostitution while a male character, fully clothed, muses about his personal history and definition of power — that fans took to Twitter to complain.

That scene was definitely over-gratuitous, and would have been even moreso, if not for some well-placed (or poorly-placed, depending on your viewpoint) furniture and scenery.
The interesting thing about the monologue is that when Littlefingers is instructing on the technique to be a proper prostitute, he is actually foreshadowing his own actions later on.

Even the fine finale included a young nude woman washing her particulars while her elderly john monologued about the nature of kings.

Well, I'm glad she used the word "particulars".

There was a lot of exposition (generally once per episode) occurring while someone was visiting prostitutes.
