If I had a kid that wasnt sure about going to college, I would point him to a trade like Plumbing , Autotech or auto bodyman. You can make decent cash and the demand is there.
I would even point him/her into a branch of the service.

AMEN! I know a lot of plumbers and electricians. All of them have done well and most importantly they are happy.

I have a nephew who is good with his hands but not College material.
I told him about some of the still great trades: Iron worker, pipe fitting etc.
He waited in line over night at the Iron workers Union hall for a slot. He's doing great.
