Good morning to all.
I thought I would get this thread up bright and early so I could concentrate on work until the trial begins. I believe it starts at 9:00 a.m. today.
The State is presenting its important rebuttal case, which will include two Gentiva representatives, one of which will likely be a custodian of records. That person would need to authenticate Cindy's time sheets, which were subpoenaed. The State plans to admit that evidence to impeach her testimony that it was she, and not Casey, who did the computer searches on chloroform. The chloroform searches go directly to premeditation, a critical element in a death penalty case.
I understand that closing arguments will be heard Saturday (tomorrow) and then the jury will "get deliberated." (I love saying that!)
Time to put on a big pot of coffee...
How do they get DNA from 5,000 year old Egyptian Mummies?
She waited two years because she made it all up. The woman is a mentally ill ditz and the jury knows it.
Awhile ago on HLN, one of the commentators said this exact thing was going to be a problem. According to this HLN lawyer, you can only use what you've proven with evidence in a closing statement, so much of what he said in opening might have to be left out. Any legal experts here know if that is true?
She is said to be very happy in jail. She may be happy for a long time.
David Berkowitz believed the dogs, too. Just sayin.
Same way they get it from 5000 year old egyptian daddy’s.
har har!
Do they get DNA from them? I didn’t know that. If so, my understanding is that tremendous care was taken in the preservation of the body (isn’t that the point, after all?) and the body is not exposed to the elements. It is entombed.
LMAO
MY question was, did she give him cash, or did she write another one of her hot checks? ;)
You mean like THIS scientific break through. LOL
Try getting some facts.
2006
Months after Egypt boldly announced that archaeologists had identified a mummy as the most powerful queen of her time, scientists in a museum basement are still analyzing DNA from the bald, 3,500-year-old corpse to try to back up the claim aired on TV. Progress is slow. So far, results indicate the linen-wrapped mummy is most likely, but not conclusively, the female pharaoh Queen Hatshepsut, who ruled for 20 years in the 15th century B.C. Running its own ancient-DNA lab is a major step forward for Egypt, which for decades has seen foreigners take most of the credit for major discoveries here. It’s time Egyptian scientists took charge, said Zahi Hawass, Egypt’s antiquities chief who spearheaded the quest to find Hatshepsut and build the lab. “Egyptology, for the last 200 years, it has been led by foreigners.” But the Hatshepsut discovery also highlights the struggle to back up recent spectacular findings in Egypt, including the unearthing of ancient tombs and mummies, investigations into how King Tut died, and even the discovery in the Siwa oasis of possibly the world’s oldest human footprint. So far, the science shown in the Discovery Channel’s “Secrets of Egypt’s Lost Queen” has not been published in a reputable peer-reviewed scientific journal—the gold standard of scientific research worldwide...
From the duct tape they are wrapped in, Sheesh!
Side question to you. Have you ever been “Baker Acted” on?
We are pinging our expert to post #263 to answer a question. Thank you.
A case that comes to mind on testing of DNA on bones that have been exposed to the elements is the finding of the bones of Tsar Nicholas II and his family in shallow graves in Ekaterine, Russia some 60-odd years after their murders.
They were able to determine who was who of the remains after so much time - don’t know exactly the process but do know it was from DNA matching...
I believe that Casey will do very well in prison. Many people do. Since she apparently never worked a day in her life, she will love having 3 hots and a cot provided for her as well as the occasional bag of potato chips or Mars Bar. She will eventually find a prison guard who she thinks is a cutie or will join the other team and find a girlfriend who makes Ethel Merman look girlish. She will not have to deal with her mother which may be the biggest win for her. All in all, the perfect future for Miss Casey.
They sure do.
You are right! I had forgotten all about that fascinating case. Thanks.
They actually had a guard testify the other day about how Happy she is to be in jail. I am not kidding.
If perjury committed during a capital case is not prosecuted, than the swearing in of witnesses becomes meaningless.
Have you a sense of humor?
Now I wish I had paid more attention to the specifics!
Who knew DNA would be so INTERESTING! Sheesh...
