Hello Trial Watchers.
Grab your yellow legal pads, sharpen your #2 pencils, don your asbestos undies (you'll need them!), and let the flames and the day begin.
Today is the first day of the live thread. Speculation abounds surrounding the surprise one-day recess on Saturday. There is talk of a plea-bargain, discovery violation, witness tampering, and, God forbid, even a mistrial.
Today I heard some feel Chaney Mason may be withdrawing, that he doesn't like working with Jose Baez and is sick of the case.
I believe television coverage begins at 8:00 a.m. and the trial starts at 9:00 a.m.
btt
I can’t stay very long today because I have to go to my office. (Sigh...of all days.) Depending on you all to report on the day’s activities.
Saturday's records were sealed, so we may never know what it was all about.
I really hope the delay was to allow time for Judge Perry to consider some really stiff sanctions on that weasel Baez...
I don’t think I’m as concerned about a mistrial now that I’ve heard a couple of reporter comments indicating “the attorneys hope this can be resolved and that court can begin on time today.” A mistrial would be a travesty.
Thanks for the thread. I’m at work-but I’ll check in for updates!
Sorry to ask, but which channel is covering it? Thanks.
I have Time-Warner cable and I’m picking it up on HLN. I don’t know if that’s the same station as Tru-TV but I believe it’s carried there too.
Is there any chance that the prosecution has obtained the evidence necessary to prove perjury against Cindy Anthony based on email/phone records from her work? Would they delay court for a day to allow the judge to determine the best way to proceed?
I’ll be here this morning. Maybe you can pull a Cindy Anthony - stay at home while also being at work! Seemed to work for old Cindy.
Thanks for starting this.
Good morning. Hope we find out what went on Saturday.
I hope it’s not a mistrial. A reporter said Casey came into the courtroom acting giddy.
I don't know the makeup of the jury. What I'm sure they don't want to see is another death.
There is no "accidental death". Any accident would have been reported...I'm sure.
There is only one conclusion one can draw...That mother hated that child for some reason and IMHO, it may have more to do with the "unknown" father than we think.
I heard that too. I don’t understand why she would be giddy since it probably means another year in jail before they start a new trial. Right now, she’s looking her usual tired, skanky self. I don’t understand why she doesn’t have any access to makeup. I’d also put glasses on her (a la the Menendez Brothers) to make her look more intelligent and to hide the dead look in her eyes. Just my opinion!!
Just saw a replay of Casey entering the courtroom. She smiled at someone - hardly giddy. You have to be so careful about the reporters’ comments. They’ll gin up anything to entertain their audience - instead of educating them. I really long for the old days of Court TV - so much more professional.

Casey is sitting at the defense table apparently intently reviewing what they believe to be a motion. According to the reporters, this is unusual, normally this is only done when the client has to sign something. They noted that Baez is NOT at the table with the others.
Could it possibly be a motion for one of the attorneys to withdraw? SUSPENSE
I was on jury panel here in Knoxville, TN a couple of years ago in a murder case where the defendant (Rat Boy, as I silently named him) and his girl friend conspired to murder her parents. Unfotunately, the state did not go for the death penalty. Rat Boy had exactly the same sunken eyed look as Casey, with deep dark circles around his eyes. You could just see that the Devil had taken his soul and replaced it with pure evil. The same appears to be true of Casey.
In case you’re curious, I survived two rounds of challenges, but was preemptorily challenged on the third round and dismissed. The defense did a good job of mind reading, especially because they never asked me any questions.
