An investigation into loud music ended with a Piqua man getting tased by police Tuesday.
Officers responded to the rear apartment at 316 Broadway at about 1:30 p.m. after a neighbor complained about loud music coming from the address.
Investigators approached the suspect, Patrick Miller, 45, and asked him to turn down the music.
Miller, officers say, turned it up instead.
An officer exchanged words with Miller, but waited for backup to arrive before approaching him again.
Ultimately, officers say Miller took a swing at them and that is when he was tased.
Miller became unresponsive and CPR was necessary. He was stabilized and removed to Upper Valley Medical Center.
Officers say there was evidence of alcohol use, but the investigation continues.
No officers or fire personnel were injured during the incident.
Miller remains hospitalized in the ICU unit at Upper Valley Medical Center.
Charges against Miller include aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and disturbing the peace.

>>>Who calls in a noise complaint at 1:30 PM?
Perhaps a 3rd shift worker who’s trying to sleep... ??
One of these days, I’m going to invent a device that sends out RF signals to speakers that forces them to put out static whenever their little cars decide to drive by my house with their stereos so loud that they rattle the windows to my house.
Yeah, you missed the part where he committed battery:
Ultimately, officers say Miller took a swing at them and that is when he was tased.
They should have clubbed him with a baton or two...skull fractures are more humane.
the unconstitutional ideal of cops dishing out lethal punishment
If a taser is punishment, so is a baton, a Glock or putting your knee on the guy's back while you get the handcuffs on. It's a tool to subdue a suspect, and it beats the heck out of a skull fracture from a baton.
who commit such crimes as playing music too loudly and not obeying when they are told to turn it down by their annointed punishers in life.
So, conservatives now believe that it's not only OK to disturb the peace, it's OK to take a swing at a cop. Sorry, I didn't get that memo.
I bet you get off on cops killing pets as they raid the homes of Americans and throw them to the ground or shoot them, too. You get excited about men being raped in prision while the guards watch? Ill bet it gives you a thrill up your leg to see those old ladies and children sexually molested at the airports as they try to board planes, too.
Your post in general, and this paragraph in particular, could have been issued in a Black Panther press release. Great conservativism there. Grow up or head to DU.
My wife works 12 hour shifts as a nurse. She is often asleep at 1:30 in the afternoon and needs her sleep for patient safety.
Moreover, I don’t see any bloody reason I should be subjected to someone’s loud music just because it’s daylight. That’s an example of a guy’s right to swing his arms ending at the tip of my nose, and IIRC we’ve had laws against disturbing the peace since the days when everyone here was a subject of the crown.
This man also committed a felony assault on a police officer's Taser!
Jail him!
You didn’t read the article, did you?
Ohio ping
Well, why don't you buy her a Taser for her birthday, and she can go zap the neighbors herself, instead of waiting around for the police!
Reserving judgement until I know which artist he was playing.
Miller became unresponsive and CPR was necessary.
Gee. Odd the story doesn't include who performed CPR initial upon Mr. Miller. Do you think...
COOL! I’ve wanted to this a bunch of times.
Well that was shocking. Here’s hoping he didn’t get the death penalty for being a stupid drunk and trying to punch a LEO.
Darwin is patient.
“One of these days, Im going to invent a device that sends out RF signals to speakers that forces them to put out static whenever their little cars decide to drive by my house with their stereos so loud that they rattle the windows to my house.”
Something like that has been done before. I know a ham radio operator that installed a powerful, broadband transmitter in his car. At short ranges, the RF would bleed into into the offending stereo system’s amplifier. When a loud vehicle would pull up beside him, my friend would push a button for a few seconds. The victim would nearly break his arm reaching for the volume control!
Man! I need something like that.
Did I need to? Darwin Award candidate hasn't learned that if the cops show UP, somebody's going DOWN.
Charges against Miller include aggravated menacing, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and disturbing the peace.
They should have charged him with assault on a police officer (for drooling on the officer's shoes after he got Tased) & littering (for falling on the floor)
To quote from The Return of the King:
'You're arrested for Gate-breaking, and Tearing up of Rules, and Assaulting Gate-Keepers, and Trespassing, and Sleeping in Shire-buildings without Leave, and Bribing Guards with Food.' 'And what else?' said Frodo. 'That'll do to go on with.' said the Shirriff-leader. 'I can add some more, if you'd like it,' said Sam, 'Calling your Chief Names, Wishing to punch his Pimply Face, and Thinking you Shirriffs look a lot of Tom-fools.'
They'd have Tased Sam Gamgee's @ss on the spot...
I’m with you on this one 100%. These assholes with their lous speakers and aural assault vehicles (cars) don’t care how many people they annoy with their thump, thump, thump bass. Their motto is vex ergo sum, “I annoy, therefore I am.” It’s bad enough having to hear their garbage let alone feel the vibrations from their noise from over a block away. I’m sick of idiots imposing their ignorance on those who don’t want to hear it. If you disagree then allow me to beat on a garbage can lid with a baseball bat while trying to listen to TV, or take a nap, or just enjoy a few minutes of silence. I suspect most of these annoying sound systems are playing rap and hip hop, and not Ray Charles.
