The James Bond film series ended the 1970s with one of its most extravagent entries, Moonraker, where James Bond went into outer space. For the first Bond film of a new decade, producer Albert R. Broccoli opted to bring the gentleman agent back down to earth in For Your Eyes Only.
Moonraker hadnt used much of Ian Fleming. For Your Eyes Only would tap the plots of two Fleming short stories, For Your Eyes Only and Risico. Both had been published in the same 1960 collection of short stories by Fleming. Broccoli brought back screenwriter Richard Maibaum, who hadnt been involved with Moonraker, to write the new movie. Broccoli collaborated with Broccolis stepson Michael G. Wilson on the script.

Screw you! I googled her and she looks just fine for fifty-four.
I like description of her as a “skater who accidentally became an actress”.

Johnson was in one of the pilot movies for Micky Spillane’s Mike Hammer, “More Than Murder” (1984).
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085961/
The memorable line went something like this:
Hammer: “You’re good.”
Sandy: “Oh, I’m better than good.”

Indeed. Bouquet rated as one of the top three Bond women, imo. The green eyes were killers!!

Stacy Keach did the best Mike Hammer, no two ways about it.

One might say that scene was more the way Connery wouldve done it. No more Mr. Nice Guy there for Rog. Too bad they couldnt have had him do it this way instead for all those prior silly 70s entries.
But it took several Bond movies for Roger to live down his nice guy image gained as “The Saint”....:^)

Topol was in this one as well to assist 007. I think he is also an excellent actor!

“For Your Eyes Only” is probably my favorites Bond flicks. No supervillians, just Bond against the Soviets, or their proxies. A great supporting cast, and some great quotable lines:
“How deep is the water?”
“Not. deep. enough!”
Bond: “Forgive me father, for I have sinned.”
Q: “That’s putting it mildly, 007!”
“you have what we Greeks call brassos, GUTS!

It was in the tradition of the Ian Fleming novels.

I don’t recall from which story, but in one of Fleming’s books he noted that Bond in his off-time was writing a book. Moore’s version of Bond never allowed me to believe he could even read a book, much less write one.

Actually, as I noted in a previous posting, Octopussy had a good script but John Glen screwed it up.
