I’m pretty sure my dirt-eating kid got some serious worms (requiring the attention of a specialist!) because he ate dirt.
Yeah, not recommended.

As a child growing up in our rather large turn-of-the-century family home I had a craving which horrified my family but apparently did no long term damage.
There used to be a product, the name escapes me, which was a greenish clay like substance used for cleaning wall paper. The stuff absorbed grease, smoke and common dirt when rolled over or rubbed on the wall paper and was reused until it lost its supple consistency.
When fresh out of the can, I found it to be a great little snack.
I have no idea what it was made of.
Bentonite Clay (not your everyday dirt) is supposed to be good for you. I have some and have tried it on occasion without any ill results.

Eating dirt is maybe overkill, but there’s been research to suggest that severe allergies to peanuts, etc are more common now due to kids being raised in hyper clean environments. Farm kids don’t seem to get these allergies nearly as much.
God made dirt, so dirt don’t hurt.
We better get used to it with our Communist in Chief in charge.
