End welfare and anything that even smells like welfare,

I couldn't agree with you more,my friend.

you have already conceded the point that welfare is a moral choice and necessary government function.

I never conceded any such thing.(And since when is welfare a moral choice?) I merely proposed an idea for getting a handle on the vast wasteland of misspent tax dollars,open-ended invitations to suckle at the government teat endlessly at our expense and future generations hell-bent on entitlements. This is one way to get to the point of self sufficiency, independence and productivity.
It's gotta start someplace. The reality is,that you're not going to get anyone in power to stand up and say,"OK,no more welfare, you're all out on your butts.Goodbye."As nice as that sounds,it's not realistic.
So,hard solutions have to be put in place by those who will make ending welfare a goal during their term.Hard to do,but not necessarily impossible.

every liberal always couches welfare as a moral choice as well as a necessary government function.

We have got to stop conceding the moral point to the left that welfare transfer payments are a moral imperative. When I refuse to agree that I have a moral obligation to help the poor, I am regularly castigated by such libtards (and even the pastor of my mother-in-law’s church) as uncaring and evil and greedy and such.

That is their method...to get you to concede the point that welfare is the moral thing to do, and then they ramp it up from there.
