I guess I’m another freak here too...40, never married, would love to meet the right person, but I live in NYC, I’m probably overeducated, and I’m not the kind of skank who is going to jump into bed with some random doofus I just met. Hence, I haven’t dated in over a year because the last few first dates I went on ended with me telling a guy where he could go, and it wasn’t upstairs with me.
And I’m responding to Betis70 because I wanted to say congrats to a Bruins fan from an Islanders fan (being an Islanders fan is almsot a rougher gig than being single in NYC...almost)
I got married last year at 42, my wife was 39. First marriage for both of us. I never knew just how happy I could be until I met her. The big problem is the clock is ticking and my wife wants a baby. NOW. I’m sorry, but we’re just going to leave that up to God, if he decides to bless us. No matter what it was right for me to wait. I could have been married 10 years ago. But that woman turned out to be nuts and I’m sure we would have divorced.
You are very smart. Not lying. You shouldn’t have to settle for a loser or some guy just wanting physical stuff. There’s so much disease out there it just isn’t worth it. Your life could be changed permanently forever in one night.
If that isn’t enough to make people really think about holding off, much less have affairs or stuff like that, I don’t know what will.
Another freak here. Early 40’s, never married, no kids. Almost got engaged when I was 29, but got out right before he started getting physically violent. Everybody thought I was crazy for breaking up with him. Otherwise, I know lots of people who didn’t get married until after 40. I have several platonic male friends who will never be more than that for a variety of reasons. Still hoping to get married someday, if I find the right guy. Need to get to a 2nd date first;-)
Oh my, an Islanders fan. Of all the franchises that were once great, yours is the one I see and wonder ‘what the heck did they do that team?’ A former Bruin takes some credit for running them into the ground (Milbury) with some of his bizarre trades and deals.
Thanks for the congrats, it feels really good. I couldn’t get up to Boston for the parade, but have a caught a bit of it on TV and will watch it later after I get some yard work done.
