Speilberg did not direct this.

I agree. I saw it for “free” and still felt robbed.

It looked a bit overwrought and overrated in its advertising; this would confirm it for me.

The worst movie I’ve seen in years.

I haven’t seen the movie, I probably wont because I can’t figure out why anyone would use a super 8 camera these days.

I can think of a lot worse films than this. Its not bad at all. War of the worlds was bad!

I didn’t enjoy ET at all. For all of the reasons stated in the above article. It was a manipulative, mean-spirited kids movie.

You take things to seriously. It was a fun ride. And the kids didn’t really have any of the answers until the end, they were just the ones willing to listen. And the zombie movie they were making is a blast.

Because the super 8 was the height of filming technology for kids back in the early 1970s when this film takes place?

Yea, I saw that after I posted. I had a video camera in 1979. It was the size of a VW Bug, however.

Tokyo Zombie is the worst. (Yet, you can't turn away.)

So what? That’s like saying that Shrek was his film.
To: pabianice
I Liked it. It was Goonies meets Cloverfield. A little too much Spielbergian shmaltz at the end, I’ll admit.

Super 8 videography is the “rage” right now with young people. Super 8 videographers get paid big bucks for wedding shoots, etc. If you search youtube for Super 8 wedding, there are pages of examples.

Between the trailers and everything I’ve read, the movie looks boring, tired and stupid.

Too late. The plans have been made. The sleepovers have been setup for a trip to the drive-in double feature tonight. Once I sit through Kung Fu Panda for the first feature, I'm fairly certain Super 8 is going to look like Gone With the Wind.
Since Super 8 doesn't start til something like 11:10pm, I suppose I could sleep through it in the back of my van though.
