If you're being attacked so much that you have to voice a beef about it, I'd say that you're probably off the reservation, and that the community is letting you know that.

I am sure your are correct to a point, however personal attacks in place of reasoned debate is what I am talking about. I really haven't been attacked much here, but that particular thread really suprised me.

I hear you. I think we've all been the recipients of unwarranted and unthinking personal attacks on these forums.
