Um, that’s a bull terrier. Not a pit bull.
Yup. A bi-color Bull Terrier.
They are rare and a very people loving dog.
It sounds fishy that the landlord claimed the dog was abandoned but the owner lived there.
Do they really need tips from the public on this one? I mean they have a tape of the people, know the dog was surrendered via a landlord... this isn’t a huge mystery!
It sounds like the dog was stolen by someone other than the owner...Plus, English Bull Terriers are not cheap.
Maybe you’re right. I figured the owners took the dog back rather than show proof that the dog had vaccines etc... Either way, sad for the dog. I hope the people who stole him don’t use this poor pup for dog fighting etc..
“They are rare and a very people loving dog.”
Add expensive to the list.
Was the dog neutered?
If not, watch out for “UKC paper” BT litters to show up in a couple months, a real bargain at only $1500 a pup.
He’s probably getting a cut of the profits.
I hate to have to point this out but NEVER leave your dog outside, unattended.
You can’t believe the sheer audacity of some people.
Back in the early 90s, I had to stop taking my ever-present beloved Ibizan with me wherever I went because people were breaking out car windows and stealing dogs.
Nobody knew whether it was for dog fight training or lab experiment profit but either way, *my* girl sure wasn’t gonna find out.
It broke her heart that she had to stay home instead of always being with me but I got to have her with me until she died at 13.
A lot of local dog owners weren’t that lucky.
He wouldn’t be much good for that.
The ‘modern’ Bull Terrier is a lover, not a fighter.
Either they wanted a $2000 dog for themselves or they’re hoping to breed it and sell the “bargain priced” pups for half that cost.
It happens.
Most of the dogs from puppy mills have ‘papers’ that are fraudulent and worthless.
That's certainly possible. This is very fishy.
So fishy I’m amazed that the owner and the cops aren’t water-boarding him right now.
Just the monetary value of the dog makes it felony theft of property.
I wonder if the cops even consider him being implicated. It’s the first thing that jumped out at me in the story. He thought the dog was abandoned when it belongs to a current tenant? Um, no.
I just emailed the paper demanding they correct the story to reflect the dog’s actual breed.
They’re not gonna help find it if they don’t even know what it really is.
Idiots.
[oh, wait...maybe this fits in the “pit type dog” category]
The paper apparently doesn’t realize that it’s a rare dog either.
They are rare and a very people loving dog.
I've had BT's for nearly 40 years. Great breed ... our current boy (neutered) is a rescue ... our first rescue. Previous bull terriers we've had have came from the best breeding in north America. This guy we have no records on, he was a night drop at a shelter and they called the BT rescue people. We thought of calling him Barak, since he doesn't have any papers and his background is so obscure. ;)
LOL!
Oh, how I envy you!
I’ve been a huge fan of BTs since *forever*.
I checked the BT book out of the library so many times, I might as well have just bought it...:)
If I didn’t have Dobes, I’d have Bull Terriers.
They are simply a most delightful, incredibly enchanting breed.
Such little comedians!
I think that Bull Terriers are adorable. I think they are the most interesting looking dog. If I ever got one, I would name it Patton. Yeah, I know... probably done a million times!!!
