Biblical archaeology ping.
No wonder “evil with a president’s face” wants to split Jerusalem.
Well, it’s already “a giant mosque,” but it still would be really interesting to see if there’s anything under there someday that could give a notion of the architecture of the second Temple.
No sane person, however, wants to do away with the mosque or re-build a Temple. We’ve sort of moved past animal sacrifice as a form of worship.
This is one mosque I am confident will not stand.
Only a small segment of Christians, i.e., the millennialists, believe that last part, "a site that will play a key role in the last days."
It did (past tense) "play a key role in the last days," when the temple was destroyed in A.D. 70, thus fulfilling Jesus' prophecy. But that's it.
Jerusalem is never mentioned in the Qu'ran and Muhammed never went there. Ever.
I’m not sure the millions of Believers who are “millennialists” is a “small segment”...
Right, hah, and Yeshua didn’t attend every single Feast day proclaimed by Yahweh: Passover, Unleavened Bread, FirstFruits, Shavuot, Rash Haushanah, Yom Kippur, Shukkot. Nor did he honor the Shabbat, wear tzit-tzits or a tillet and he did away with the Torah. All of his teaching were new, not related to or directly drawn from the first covent. When he referenced scriptures he was talking about the to written second covevent.
Neither did his disciples...
Gotcha...
Where did I say any of that? Answer: I didn't.
All I said was that the site of the temple, after it was destroyed in A.D. 70, no longer has any "key role in the last days." It's role now, as the city that was destroyed for rejecting her Messiah, is as a microcosm, a "type," of the judgment that is to come on the whole world at Christ's return.
I didn't know I was insane!
(oh, I had my suspicions sometimes, but still...)

Dictionary of dead language complete after 90 yearsBy Cordelia Hebblethwaite
BBC News
The first volumes of the dictionary were published in the 1950s
A dictionary of the extinct language of ancient Mesopotamia has been completed after 90 years of work.
Assyrian and Babylonian - dialects of the language collectively known as Akkadian - have not been spoken for almost 2,000 years.
“This is a heroic and significant moment in history,” beamed Dr Irving Finkel of the British Museum’s Middle East department.
As a young man in the 1970s Dr Finkel dedicated three years of his life to The Chicago Assyrian Dictionary Project which is based at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago.
That makes him something of a spring chicken in the life story of this project, which began in 1921.
