Yet another teacher in Texas has been jailed for having sex with one of her students.
Christina McCann is the fourth teacher from the Lone Star state to be locked up in recent weeks for illegal sexual activity with a student. The 39-year-old is alleged to have had sex with an 18-year-old student she was chaperoning during a conference for future business leaders.
Investigators in Austin,Texas claim McCann had been drinking with some of the six students she was in charge of during a competition organised by the Distributive Education Clubs of America. Detectives believe McCann was drinking alcohol with the students when one of them returned to her hotel room and a sexual encounter took place. The incident took place in February while McCann and her students were staying at a hotel in Fort Worth.

The Distributive Education Clubs of America seeks to prepare students to become leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance and hospitality. Police began investigating McCann after a tip off and she resigned from her job as a marketing teacher at the High School last month.
A warrant was issued for her arrest last week and McCann turned herself in on Monday. She was charged with an improper relationship between educator and student. Bail was set at $10,000. McCann follows three other Texas teachers who are all facing jail after being charged with having sex with their students. Actually, since a picture is worth one thousand words, that really explains a lot.
I think it could be in the teachers’ contract: “Teachers will not have sex with their students.” That is reasonable.
Certainly it is in contracts in the business world.
But, felony? Not if they are sixteen.
Yup ~ Spanish 101 teacher invited students to “come up and visit her some time” and the guys who did got A’s. Everybody else got B’s or even C’s.

Communications being what they are today I’m not surprised we’re stories like this more often. That said I also believe good old fashioned community sanctions went a long way toward curbing student-teacher relationships.
The absense of community sanctions and the sheer size of the teacher this behavior. In addition, there is the internet’s ubiguitous portal to any sort of immoral and/or deviant behavior one can imagine. I suspect teachers with a student fetish actually find a comfort zone in these porn fantasys. In turn, this encourages them to act out their fantasy.
I can sort of understand the fantasy. But on an intellectual level it is amazing the teachers think these teenagers and young adults will keep their secret. I guess what I’m saying is that teachers who act out the fantasy have lost the ability to think rationally. To a degree, they are, in fact, sick puppies.
