LONDON, - A London-based Web site said its poll of 30,000 people in 15 countries named Germans the "least funny nationality."
Social networking site Badoo.com said 30,000 users of the Web site were asked during the months of April and May to choose the funniest and least funny nationalities from a list of 15 and they chose people from the United States as the funniest and Germans as the least funny.
Ranking second on the list of the funniest nationalities were the Spanish, followed by Italians, Brazilians, French people, Mexicans and the British.
Following the Germans on the least funny list were Russians, Turks, the British and people from the United States.
"When we meet someone new, one of the first things we notice is whether they make us laugh", said Lloyd Price, Badoo's director of marketing. "Sometimes, it seems the most important thing."

Earlier today on Facebook I posted a youtube video of John Banner as a TWA agent in 1967; at the end he puts on a helmet and urges viewers to also watch his show, Hogan’s Heroes.
Banner, as it turns out, was born in Austria in 1910 but emigrated to the US/became citizen in 1938 and took acting roles in Hollywood, often playing Nazis despite being Jewish. (Several of the actors in the show played Nazis despite being Jewish
and/or were detainees at POW camps—Howard “Hochstetter” Caine,
Werner “Klink” Klemperer, Banner, Leon “Burkhalter” Askin)
I don’t think the Hogan series hit German TV till the 90s.
I’m surprised that the Aussies didn’t beat out the Americans.
When I was overseas I saw a show on BBC called
"Mumbai Calling". One of the funniest shows I have ever seen.
NBC tried a knock off called something like "Outsourced". Did a terrible job with it.
But all those ‘Hitler Finds Out...’ videos on youtube are hilarious.
This may be true, but it is also true that Germans have more intelligence per square head than other people. |
Don’t forget the Sprockets on SNL.
To each his own. But sophisticated and British humor do not occupy the same room. Ricky Gervais is good but his humor is not sophisticated.Nothing wrong with that.Other than Gervais, IMHO much of the rest of British humor is simpleminded and dull.
I never said the Brits’ humor was sophisticated. I was speaking of the respondents to the poll. :D
the American Office was/is much funnier than the British, that’s for sure
Hey Tommy, all dressed up and doing the town.
Quite some time ago I heard that the shortest book in history was entitled
“Ten Thousand Years of German Humor”.
“I know nothink, nothink”
