NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nearly two dozen police officers were called out to Wave Country on Monday afternoon and were forced to shut the water park down two hours early.
The intense heat brought out thousands of people to the park's opening day.
Metro Parks director Tommy Lynch said Wave Country was nowhere near capacity, but there were plenty of problems that caused the park to close early.
Metro Police were called out to Wave Country around 1 p.m. because the crowd outside the gates and inside the park was acting up.
The decision was made to close the gates, and eventually the entire park. That's because several people were not taking directions from staff and police.
There were several fights inside. Police said one of the biggest problems was people jumping the fence to get into the park, creating chaos inside the park.
Wave Country will re-open on it's regular schedule on June 3.

I believe the park here in Memphis met the same fate, for the same reason. It is also one of the biggest reasons Liberty Land was closed. (I believe it was that word “Liberty” in the title.)

Wave Country used to be a good place to go. But now it is overrun with black hoodlums. I don’t and won’t go there.

The Fire Dept. in the town near me had to close their Carnival after over 50 years of having it, when a low cost project was set up behind it.
Six Flags in Largo has had a mess of trouble I stay away from it. It’s the same all over, they seem to think they are entitled to jump the ropes, jump the lines and do as they please.
Parents are being irresponsible if they expose their children to the chaos and dangers of places and events that attract or house trouble makers.
All places where trouble makers tip the balance, go out of buiness or stop functioning. Entertainment centers and resturants close, grocery and drug stores go out of business, schools stop teaching and when it is hopeless, tax payers and all businesses relocate.
The only reason the other services in these areas continue is off the backs of taxpayers, but if we keep the gates wide open to massive immigration and expand socialism, that will tip as well. Our country is overwhelmed just like the Marxists want it to be.

Fact is...if I was a business owner there I'd surely do that...but frankly nowadays..I'd do the same anywhere.

My daughters were at the water park in our county seat this afternoon. Lots of people, perfectly pleasant atmosphere. Wow, a lot of enormous people are covered with tattoos these days!
There was a nice 1/4 mile dragstrip near my hometown that had a Juneteenth event. There was a totally different crowd than usual. Someone welshed on a bet on a race, and a shooting occurred which resulted in a death.
It closed soon after. For years, I spent many happy Friday nights racing there.
