It may have been “done a million times,” as another poster claimed, but I’d never seen a proposal like that before. I think it’s real clever and sweet. Asking the dad for his blessings was a nice touch. I wish the couple all happiness!

I flew to the Philippines and got on my knees in front of a whole lot of people and asked Liza to marry me.

Then we flew to the Province and I asked her papa for his permission and blessing.

He said she was old enough to make up her own mind, but I found out later that it was an important event in his life .. no one had EVER asked about his other daughters.

Papa died about 9 months later.
