Many people are home during the day and many who are know their postman, if not by name than by sight. They would have certainly let him in. What he did warranted a significant disciplinary reaction, a demotion, loss of pay, and possibly termination. He showed no respect for his employer, his customer or himself.
Have you ever had colitis or chrons Jim, it gives you about 15 seconds to get clothing out of the way.
The usual method is to carry plastic bags in the delivery vehicle then when stricken just hop in the back and poop in the sack.
This gentleman was on a park and loop route it would seem (where the houses are close together they'll park the vehicle and carry the mail on foot to the homes).
He was away from his vehicle AND that "public toilet" was in a park ~ he wouldn't know if it was locked or unlocked.
No doubt he wasn't able to make it to his vehicle.
Else he'd driven to a gas station or someplace with a public toilet.
I pray for all the critics to be stricken with Crone's Disease, Coilitis or best of all Wheat Gluten Intolerance ~ yeah, that's the one. You got 10 seconds warning time and all you did was eat lunch ~ oh, you missed the fact the deli guy sprayed your Italian sub salad with malt vinegar? Well, too bad eh!
Postal employees are NOT supposed to ask to come into someones house to use the restroom. If you are lucky, you have another postal service employee on your route and they tell you that if someone is home you can use their restroom.
You can use public restrooms in gas stations strip malls and the like. A carrier may be stuck on route that is not near a public restroom. He might take a bottle in the truck or van to pee, but better not let anyone see you if you do. Dump it in the next drain come to, don’t carry it around.
If you have diarhria on the route you have a problem.
