It was a smart thing to jump in immediately, then another smart thing to back off.
In the meantime, Disney knows no one else will get it, except the military (which, I hear tell, has been building a considerable media-creation capability).

I believe Disney did the right thing because they had no choice - fighting with the Navy over the trademark for SEALs could have only resulted in tons of bad publicity for Disney. If this were some smaller, lesser known group incapable of putting up much of a fight, Disney's lawyers would be busy threatening to ruin them right now.
