YES. She needs s speech coach to lower her pitch and slow DOWN
and long winded, never-ending sentences drive me NUTS
She is clear, well spoken, and nails the salient points with gusto.
Only one other point I would have liked to see her make in this interview is the mention of the enemies of Israel who are FORMALLY dedicated to Israel’s destruction.
I also think one of the reasons she has been trashed as being “stupid” by the media is because she is a “quick learner.” She is highly intelligent in common sense, coupled with a biting sense of humor and irony-—one of the hallmarks I love about fly-over America and find so brilliantly exemplified in so many FR posts.
I so hope she runs. If that is her plan, she has been smart not to make herself a sitting duck too early. If she is still undecided and eventually decides not to run, she appears to me to be a woman who has dedicated herself to this next election and to defeating Obama.
She will not be silenced, and people listen. When she is ignored, sideswiped, or trashed by her own party, she has learned to roll with the punches, readjust her strategy, keep her options open, and find an outlet for her voice.
This is one smart, honest woman who knows who she is. Moreover, unlike most of the Republican party and many conservatives...She actually GETS IT! She KNOWS these fascist Dems; she has their number.
I think I perceive her own internal struggle vis a vis her family...as a reason not to run...and the lure of so many opportunities.
Will she be the mother bear of her family, or the mother bear of America?
People are not born great. Who said it is often the times that make great people great? Time and opportunity. This is her time and opportunity. I hope she finds the will and the way to grab it.
Very perceptive, I didn't notice until you mentioned it....
I am NOT snobby and I am not shallow.
I am sorry but I found (read past tense, at least as far as this interview shows) her voice to be irritating.
I think it is important to realize that an accent is not necessarily a negative. But an accent that does damage to generally accepted pronunciation of the language is.
When I ran a call center operation we intentionally had prospective reps read a script that included the words “ask” and had amounts in dollars and cents. These things did not eliminate people with accents (we had them....eastern, southern, african american, hindu, pak, african...) it eliminated people with lousy diction.
Over the telephone it made a huge difference.
Perhaps that part of my background is why I find Algore, Obama, and Bill Clinton horribly difficult to listen to—even in casual interviews. W was fun, but when he butchered a phrase, it was almost comical.
I’m still for Palin/Ryan but Palin/Cain wouldn’t be half bad.
Don’t expect any black votes because of Cain though. Forget that.
There must be many of us who hoped Sarah-with-an-h would hire a speech coach - except, how to get the word to her?!
Years ago I heard someone on the radio guaranteeing one could alter their voice with coaching/lessons.
Now, can we call Sarah’s attention to that sort of pouty look on her lips affected many times during an interview - it’s sort of a puctuation after a statement she’s making, or answering a question.
Okay, I can hear it now - some of you LOVE it!
WE ARE SARAH SUPPORTERS!!!
where do you get this “yelling into the microphone” stuff?
Maybe at a rally like in Madistan where the protestors were banging drums and trying to drown her out?
C’mon...
Well said, thouworm. Well said!
It is a noticeable change. Still some regional twang in the dipthongs (”niaow”) and when she forgets and speeds up, she goes into chest breathing and gets shriller. But, still, she is working on it. It takes time and practice.
I think she is inching (pun intended) towards a more modern working woman’s hair style, too. Fewer layers, less length and less tousling will quell some of that 1980s “Dallas” look and it would be more age appropriate. It is almost a cliche.I expect to see her with a smooth mid-length bob, at some point.
I knew she was running when I read the articles on the new documentary that will open in Iowa. The next hurdle will be to see what place she gets on the ticket. If she gets the POTUS spot, with Cain as VPOTUS, there will be leftard squeals of racism. If she takes the VPOTUS spot, there will be snarks galore about the “perennial Vice Presidential candidate”.
It is really a shame that everything today seems to be vetted through the lens of a reality TV show. Those shows are all scripted, in essence, at least. They are as false as the images they project, with no substance. Our elections should not be that way.
One of my few complaints about Sarah was her voice. Too fast paced and high pitched. Don't mind the colloquialisms as much. The current speech pattern is much better. More serious toned and easier to focus on content instead of delivery.
It also looks to me like she has toned down the hair style as well.
Overall, nice improvement.
“That “southern baptist preacher” thing is the main thing Obama learned from 20 years of watching Reverend Wright.”
You may want to re-think that characterization. I’m Southern Baptist — have been so for 63 years — and NO preacher in any SBC church I’ve been to speaks in that annoying manner. You’re thinking “black preacher” or televangelist con man, or used car salesman, I believe.
I had not been able to pin it down. But you may be onto something.
She came across to me as some of the women I meet when I work out of my office, in the Starbucks in town. The women are professionals. They are well dressed. But, they like to have that little “flirty” aspect to their presentation.
Now, this is fine when you are making small talk. Since I know most of their husbands the “flirting” is just part of the game...nothing would ever come of it. They are just using their femininity. And that is fine.
It makes me uncomfortable when I am trying to decide if they can be trusted with their finger on the nuclear trigger.
Does that make sense?
And you are right. That is not there this time. Wow. It really does make a difference.
The problem with Palin/Cain (in either iteration) is that Sarah will NOT be anyone’s 2nd in command. Not this time.
And Cain cannot be the VP nominee. Think about it.
The libs would be all over it: “You see, the republicans are afraid of strong black men, they will let them be number two, but not number one.”
Just wouldn’t work for either of them.
I believe Palin is being “elocution” coached.
That is different from learning to “place”
your voice properly. A well placed voice has
some of the following benefits.
1. It is more pleasing to the listener.
2. It cuts through in noisy conditions.
3. A supported voice conveys power and authority to the audience.
“Moreover, Cain’s being black removes a major arrow from the Democrat quiver ...”
Ya mean like Justice Thomas’s being black allowed him to sail through the Senate Judiciary Committee without opposition from the Dems?
To Dem’s Cain being black will earn him the title of a “traitor” to his race, and garner him not respect, but invective.
They’ll come after him non-stop hard. just like they still do with Justice Thomas...
Negitives? Wait a while till the MSM gets warmed up, Cain will look like he’s coated in mud in just a short-short........you won’t even be able to tell he’s black after they get through with him, just a mud splattered “evil right wing extremist.”
And what’s with Meshell Obigmouthmama’s ‘SH-ing’ every ‘s-t-r’ word??!
Like shhhhtruck, shhhtrife, shhhtruggle, shhhtrange, shhhtripe???!
Yiiiiiiiiii !
Think I’m now hearing some others sounding like that, also - - -
bttt
Cain also said in his announcement speech that he isn't running for second place....obviously he was referring to beating obama, but he might not accept a VP offer. We'll see. My dream ticket is Palin/Cain, first women president, first black VP.....I think they would be unstoppable....and would wipe the competition out in any debate. I can dream.
Yeah, smart move to get rid of the squeeky voice. She is getting ready to RUMBLE!!!
Pray for America
You obviously know of what you speak. You should make an effort to contact her PAC. I mean that seriously.
