I hope that everyone that posted in my other thread will see this.(Any Lawn and Garden Folks Out There?)
That thread was getting too long and I'm really not sure how to respond back to each and every person who tried to help me out!?
According to Virginia Techs 'weed' department .. the weed .. as it turns out is: Black Medic.
Again .. Thanks To All 8)
I *thought* it worked. Have done that before on my own threads to thank people, and got a few “welcomes” and the like back.
Sure Admin Mod will know...
Yea, I never noticed it to ping any but the post I relied to. I hope/wish it worked.
relied to = replied to
I don’t thank it works the way you described, you have to copy ‘n pate each name, separated by a *;*
I would be delighted to be corrected. ;D
Wouldn't mowing it stop it from being so visible?
This "herb" shows up once in a while in my garden, never enough for me to notice it and do something about it.
Your best way to get rid of it is manual pulling before it goes to seed. Using chemicals will only take care of the visible plant but won't take care of the seeds that are starting to take root and soon will be maturing.
Likely a wide leafed eradicator will get rid of any wide leaved plant, but anything a chemical will kill is listed on the label of the container. Always wise to check labels.
It is spreading and taking over the whole yard.
“Hate to disagree with Virginia Techs weed dept., but it looks like birdsfoot trefoil to me”
The blossom looks very much like birdsfoot trefoil, a forage crop I have grown in Wisconsin; and nothing about it looks like the black medic that infested my field before the trefoil became established. BF trefoil is used in Wis.,mostly in mixtures with grasses, for pastures. Thrives on less fertile soils better than alfalfa. It thrives on sides of I-80, along with vetch, in Iowa.
Here's a thought. Find out what kind of soil it likes then treat your soil by raising or lowering the PH. This may discourage it.
The flowers aren't even close.
If anyone knows farming, it would be VPI.
Black Medic, huh?
If I’m bleedin real bad and he knows how to stop it, I don’t care what color he is!
Like I said It was the flowers that confused me.

OK, I explained how I *thought* “To: all” worked. Several commenters raised a valid question: Does it really?
So I’m testing it here. This is a reply to “All.” Verify or verify failure, please...
I know that Dave and I Thank You for your help.
(whadda you expect from a crappy camera? 8)
Man, I only Wish that I could take a picture like that birdsfoot thingy above!
The camera that took that birdsfoot picture cost .. almost Three Thousand Dollars!!
My little hundred buck one can’t .. Well you get the idea!?

“Medicago lupulina is an annual or bi-annual plant, sometimes long-lived thanks to adventitious buds on the roots. The plant measures from 15 to 60 cm in height, with fine stems often lying flat at the beginning of growth and later erecting. The nodes bear three leaves, carried by a long petiole and have oval leaflets, partially toothed towards the tip. This species has very small yellow flowers are grouped in tight bunches. The fruit is a pod that does not open upon maturation, of a little arched form and bearing a single seed.
Note: it is sometimes confused with other plants that have small leaves divided into three leaflets and small yellow flowers, such as members of:
the clover genus, like Hop Trefoil and Lesser Hop Trefoil
the false shamrock genus, like Yellow Woodsorrel

There are some pictures there also.
