While I don’t doubt the talon wounds, I don’t think that there is a bald or golden eagle out there that can lift and 18 lb poodle.

Don’t know what kind of eagle this is, but it is a bad ass.

I’m sure an 18 pound dog would be no problem for this guy!

There are many eagles that could do. And amazingly most eagles weigh less than 18 lbs.

I’ve heard of them grabbing lambs. Here’s a news story and pic about one:

Here’s a bird of prey, don’t know what kind, grabbing a mountain goat. There’s video of him actually flying off with one. Poor mountain goat:

I wouldn’t doubt this story. We have a large 10LB Chihuahua and the two Redtail Hawks who live in our neighborhood target her all the time. They follow us when we walk her. I’m talking flying really low overhead and then landing on the street sign and staring at her all the way by. One day she was out on the deck and I went to call her in and there was a hawk sitting on the edge of the gutter sizing her up. Now she can only go out if the larger dog is with her.

Raptors are incredible predators. The Mongolians use Golden Eagles to hunt wolves. The Eagles kill the wolves. Check it out on Youtube.
