BTW, I tried to find the long post of yours that I’d wanted to reply more substantively to—looked quite a while and never found it. Sorry.

In terms of the white-hanky stuff . . . that ilk of thing is MORE THAN WARRANTED given the stimuli the RC’s et al throw at proddys routinely around here.

It is the best quick—short-hand way of communicating what I see as very serious Scriptural truths about Christianity and what NOT to give in to.

Folks can take it personally, or not.
Folks can ignore it, or not.
Folks can laugh it off, or not.
Folks can respond in kind, or not.
Folks can consider it absurd, or not.
Folks can be outraged and lose sleep over it, or not.
Folks can learn from the metaphor, or not.

It’s not likely that the metaphor will cease as long as I am able to write.

"Folks can take it personally, or not" --> and to both of you, for Quix, though we have fought, and I disgree with his points, no one can accuse him of not wanting to convert us -- and we to convert him! THAT, I see as sign that the person is genuinely filled with God's love and wants to share what he believes is the truth.

I much rather have such a person than one who's only aim is to curse me (neither of you qualify for that latter!)

The one who DOES qualify for the latter has said such statements as

1. "That will separate Christianity from ______;
2. "The results of __________ shows it ugly face again. "
3. "That means nothing to non believers but who cares about the satan's little pawns - they prefer the wide road."
4. "The ... likes darkness for his children as he kisses the koran and his little children bow and kiss his ring while their confessors rape their own. Can't get much darker than that. They liked the darkness so much they dug up this body to honor the leader. "
5. "A ____ trying to arrive at Truth - the joke of the day."

That is dripping hate.

Valid -- so, see paladin, this is the thick-skinned attitude that quix has. You and I don't have quite the same nonchalance as he! But everyone has their own characteristic.

As an RC I've gone on to ask God's forgiveness of that attitude. Will you forgive me? I won't leave my Church, but I accept all FReeper Christians as my Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Time is short. I really feel the "season" is here; begun. We must hang together. The Enemy is in the camp.
