Note -- you said quit trying to paint us fundamentalists as some kind of gullible fools who never think for ourselves. It's more than a little annoying and while I can only imagine what the others think, I've just about had my fill of that attitude from others who claim to be our Brothers and Sisters

Well, that is how Catholics have been targetted for years. Now you know

Note -- these comments below are from just one user on one thread. The same user has written such on other threads and many other users use the same words of hate:

  1. "That will separate Christianity from fundies"
  2. "The results of fundamentalism shows it ugly face again. "
  3. "That means nothing to non believers but who cares about the satan's little pawns - they prefer the wide road."
  4. "The ... likes darkness for his children as he kisses the koran and his little children bow and kiss his ring while their confessors rape their own. Can't get much darker than that. They liked the darkness so much they dug up this body to honor the leader. "
  5. "A fundie trying to arrive at Truth - the joke of the day."

in ALL of these, just remove "fundie" with Catholic and these are posts posted just last week.

You say you I've internalized some of the aggravation and anger that built up over the years watching others attack those who I would consider a friend in the real world. -- now tell me how come you never noticed the above comments? These have been repeated years on end and you never "internalized" the hatred? You never noticed that posters were constantly trying to paint Catholics as "gullible fools who never think for ourselves. "?

Even your very own post accused Catholics of this group think that you say you "fundamentalists" are accused of.

Not denying that Catholics have been targeted that way for years, nor am I denying that it will continue, but what do you expect when the RCC's stated position is that all those who are not a part of the Church of Rome are going to hell? I mean, really, a lot of this trouble the RCC brought upon itself by the stance that it's taken down through the years. I find it incredibly amusing that the Roman Church has such a problem with Protestants and non-Protestant Christians who have broken away from the RCC when they themselves broke from the Orthodox Church first.

As for Catholics being accused of being gullible fools who never think for themselves, while I know what you're speaking of, I reject that claim on the grounds that the accusation is grounded in the RCC's own demands that Catholics must accept the official Catholic doctrine and any deviation from that doctrine is met with hostility. How can we not think that Catholics have a problem with thinking for themselves when this is the case? Actually, a better question would be one of how can we not think that the Roman Church has a problem with people coming to their own conclusions, which may disagree with official doctrine?

Can you see where I, as well as many other non-Catholics, are coming from in this regard?
