I bought my Garmin in 2008. Last year, I decided to take advantage of the free upload of the latest maps.

Hoo Boy! I thought I’d never finish. It took 2 and a half hours! And I have a high speed digital Road Runner network! I had to watch it too, as periodically I had to hit “Yes” or “Save” and junk like that.

Anyway... I love the Garmin. I gave it to my son. And before I drive to Colorado this summer - I plan on getting another Garmin. One of those 5” screen jobbies.

Look at what you are getting before you buy. Years ago I bought a Garmin QUEST. It was a bit complicated to operate for a codger like me but the Missus and I soon learned to make it work for us. It is still great.

Son-in-law got me a NUVI for my birthday last year. It has the large screen but is much more inaccurate than the old QUEST with the tiny screen.

Example, the Nuvi is looking for Pizza Hut. I can see the joint straight ahead past the red-light. The Nuvi say go left, then left then right, leaving you in the back lot of a large log yard.

One good thing the NUVI costs about $400 less than the Quest.
