We're beginning to see some strong candidates drop out.
Why? Perhaps these candidates feel if they band together to support one person that will make the candidate who goes against Obama that much stronger.
What if candidates like Romney, Huckabee, Trump, Gingrich, Santorum..all drop out and then they all banded together and they each used their own strengths to campaign for the nominee.
Imagine all those candidates supporting either Cain or Palin or Bachman.
No party is going to nominate someone who has never held major political office.
Bachman would be very appealing.
Watching Bachman and Palin in a debate would be a blast.
I was just wondering because each of these candidates have strong support networks.
For instance all of Huckabee’s followers (Social Conservatives) will go to who he endorses.
All of Trumps support (people concerned about the birth certificate) will go to who he endorses
If Romney drops out then all the people concerned about the economy.. will go to who he endorses.
These people have huge support networks.
bump
How about Cain?
Has he held political office?
With Romney I enjoyed the “Sanctuary mansion” that Giuliani exposed him for in one of the debates, after Romney blustering and denying it on stage, he was busted a few days later for using the same illegal aliens that the press had busted him for in the previous year.
I hope someone checks him for illegal aliens this time.
Do you believe anything that guy says? Of course he was going to say he was doing great. Living in PA, him being the front runner here is news to me. Myth, Huckster and Santorum are all ahead of Obummer here.
He was destroyed in the ‘08 election because of his incompetence as Gov. From taxes to pardons, he was vulnerable. A Sat night folksy song and dance show on FOX isn’t going to absolve him of his past. It was just that people forgot. They were about to be reminded again if he ran. Just look at how damaged Gingrich got in just a couple days running.
Dole
McCain
Romney
Kinda..
Herman Cain (born December 13, 1945) is a businessman, political activist, columnist, and radio host from Georgia. He is best known as the former chairman and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza.
He is a former deputy chairman (199294) and chairman (199596) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. Before his business and economics career he worked on ballistics for the United States Navy.[2] Cain’s newspaper column is distributed by North Star Writers Group. He lives in the Atlanta suburbs.
Obama is going to have a hell of a lot of $$$$ to spend and a media machine geared up and ready to go to bat for him. Not to mention the power of the presidency.
People don’t want to run against him because it sucks ro run against an incumbent...even a weak one. Huckabee might figure 2016 will be easier.
Trump? I never bought him as a threat to run as a Republican. He might try to make s run as an independent a la Perot in 1992. That would virtually hand the election to Obama.
Nope.. Trump said he’s not running.
I think his whole deal was partly publicity and partly he’s going to have a voice in this upcoming election.
The party insiders will not nominate an elective politics outsider.
And I’m not all that sure the people would vote for a political outsider in the general.
I must say I do like Cain when I have heard him fill in on talk radio.
Great understanding of economics.
You’re right of course...a curse of our times.
All of those folks have followings that will probably vote lock step with who their hero says is the best. Problematic but true - lots of followers out there.
I just really hate to think about it that way (lots of stupid people following their leader). I have to say though that you are probably right - If someone gets their blessing, it will mean a few more votes. A real shame but unfortunate politics.
What this means in real terms is that anyone that has a chance to actually win the nomination has to cow-tow to the idiots that have no one (lost candidate) to vote for. Real shame, but seems to the the only way anyone can be elected these days. Most of the electorate have no idea of whose running anyway...
We are doomed...
Unless the party insiders lose control.. and a candidate.. IE: Herman Cain catches fire.
Yep it’s an election right out of High School.
I’m friends with the coolest kids so I get the best lunch table.
I agree that an outsider doesn’t have much of a chance in the GOP mostly based on money. I omitted Mitch Daniels in my post above and I don’t know about his ability to fund raise either but he might have the Bush machine behind him and the Bush’s do have access to money. It doesn’t get any more insider.
I’ve heard Daniels was a Rino?
But I also saw Daniels has the support of Scott Walker, Chris Christie and some other chick.
Add the Bushes to that and he’s the insider candidate?
Heh... Well, you will at least get to admire the menu...
Yes lol!
Mud Wrestling for the winner?
If either had been an actual "strong candidate", neither would have dropped out.
