I have all 3 and watch them on a large screen LED set, if this new version is an improvement on the quality I already see, then I need new glasses or something, it already looks awsome!

My favorite all-time movie/trilogy. I watch it every year and have pre-ordered the blu-ray extended version from Amazon.

Watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy is like watching other people play Gauntlet

I kept on waiting for someone to say "Yellow Wizard is about to die" or "Green Elf shot the food"
Would have made them somewhat watchable

Wow, time flies. I know a lot has changed in the world since 2001-03, but it hardly seems like much time has passed since I was watching those films as new releases in the theaters.

Great even on a small screen, but:
Frodo is too young.
The book is really about Sam.
The best thing about Ian McKellen as Gandalf is The Hat.

I boycotted the Theatrical Version of LOTR Blu-Ray because it was just obnoxious that Jackson wouldn't release the Extended, as well. There's greed, and then there's really greedy. There's pleasing your fans, and then there's exploiting them.
So I waited for this edition.
