We are high and dry, thank you Elsie. We drove over to Vicksburg Sunday evening ... had supper and picked up a few things at WalMart. Most of Vicksburg is operating as if nothing is going on. Watching the news, you would think the entire city is underwater. Here is a photo of the Mississippi from the overlook at I-20 and Washington Street:

The trees on the left are blocking view of the bridge that carries freeway traffic. The bridge that you see is the old Hwy 80 bridge that carries only rail these days.

I was city boy all my life until about 5 years ago, when we bought this 13 acres out away from the asphalt jungle.

After a couple of years, my wife (city girl) decided it would be nice if we had a couple of ducks to run around the yard (It was the Easter, sell a chick or bunny season at the farm store). Well, they had no ducks, so while I was looking at the chicks, she picked up a magazine with a cute baby goat on the cover (Guess where THIS is going!)

Yup; SOMEhow we ended up with 4 of the little darlin’s!

SO, we’ve had them 3 years now. I wonder where a farmer would take his herd of critters in these floods?

Do other folks have extra pasture that they’d take in the hapless creatures ‘til the water recedes?
