LOL! Looking at your list I'd say you think rock has been at an ebb since 1965.

No, You've got your dates wrong. Most people of my generation who were R&R fans began to notice a qualitative decline somewhere in the mid 1970's. So 1965 is ludicrous date. Rock was alive and on fire in 1965. There was so much good music that even great tunes would never make it past the top 20 lists of the time.

A decade later things were in steep decline. I don't really know why. Yes there were still good groups around but not nearly so many and those great groups still together didn't seem to produce the quality of material. Think about it. Did the Stones ever do anything really great after about 1975? (about the time M.Taylor left).

A lot of time has passed and from time to time some really good music has been produced. The have been a number of ebbs and flows. But the time period between say 1975 to the early 1980's was certainly a low period. I haven't been paying much attention since about 2000. It's just too depressing. There is no R&R scene to speak of. Rap is *hit and that's being kind.

PU must be a generational thing because for me rock wasn’t rock until heavy metal came to be in the early 70’s.I consider most of what was made in the 60’s equivelent to the AT40 and unlistenable.That was my parents generations music not mine.
