Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings once again stretched his wings of power and vetoed a bill that would have allowed Albany homeowners the privilege to raise and house chickens (and definitely no roosters) in their backyards.
(...)
What I found amusing about Mayor Jennings argument is that he called the proposal a flawed and piecemeal approach to the broader issue of urban agriculture. Of course its a piecemeal approach, you first put the pieces together and then you enjoy a meal after the chickens are mature. What really is the concern here? A fear that residents are going to raise so many chickens that theyll put Price Chopper out of business and then therell be no one left to sponsor the big 4th of July Fireworks extravaganza at the Plaza? Not likely.

Trust me Puta is whore in Spanish. I had to listen to my next door neighbor yell it at his wife after he caught her with another guy. Punta means point in Spanish.
So technically I think you yelled “What Whore? What now? which is OK I think you got the point across. LOL!!
Yeah, There was a Puerto Rican guy in my barracks who called everybody a Puta (Whore)
Everyday
Like Clockwork
He’d get off a midshift and the first thing he did when he got home was yell “PUTA”! at the top of his lungs.
Now that you have reminded me of that long forgotten memory...go stand in the corner. ;^)
No I mean ‘’ahora’’ is ‘’now’’. Ahora que?, ‘’now what?’’ yes I know what ‘’whore’’ is. A number of curse words in Spanish have the ‘’na’’ sign. I don’t have a Spanish key board. For instance ‘’cabron’’ it’s really two words, hard to translate but ‘’cab’’ is the root for ‘’goat’’ it means as I’ve always understood it as an s.o.b.. Anyhoo, class dismissed on the Spanish curse lessons. Not nice for a gentleman to be having this kind of conversation with a lady.
My husband is dying to have chickens in his back yard. Fresh eggs in the morning, blot out his mental activity. He works with a bunch of people who have chickens for fresh eggs.
We are in a neighborhood filled with feral cats. In addition, he rescued a feral cat who OUR outdoor cat in the same backyard where he wants to place his chickens. He tells himself he will be able to train the outdoor cat and the chickens are mean.
If he brings it up again, I will agree. But he has to agree that if the cat he adopted attacks the chickens, that will be okay. It’s been running in circles and I feel it is time he got his way. We will be having a chicken roast. And that will be that. :)
Somebody up in your state is raising chickens. There’s a 448 page thread, plus other threads from Alaskans, on the poultry-related backyardchickens.com forum.
huckabeen woulda been a force in Iowa and a lesser factor in SC. That is about it, perhaps.
It opens up the race. No debating IA is still a big deal. Palin could be unstoppable there is Bachmann drops out.
Powder..patch..ball FIRE!
My brother and his wife have a coop with over 30 hens, 4 turkeys, 3 ducks and assorted chicks/ poults/ etc....
They also have 11 cats. In battles over territory it is chickens 100 - cats 0.
The cats give a wide berth to the chickens. Foxes are another matter and possums love the eggs.
And as a extra bonus they have zero bug problems around the house.
