Bristol Palin isn't the only one living fast these days. Sarah and Todd Palin's second oldest daughter, Willow Palin, 16, was ticketed in Alaska for driving nearly 20 miles per hour over the speed limit in the family's black Cadillac Escalade SUV. According to a TMZ review of documents filed in Alaska, Willow was said to be driving 84 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.

According to the website, she was issued a 'minor offence' citation for $162 and let go 'without further incident'.

She's got a long way to go if she want's to catch up to Al Gore's son who, as an adult, was busted doing 90 in a prius...while stoned.

And when he was released from jail, he was picked up in the family Maserati.

I was not driving my parent’s car at 16 and certainly not doing 85 on the occasions I was allowed to use it.

I get the impression the Palin children are given a lot more freedom than I or any of my friends were given. We were always aware that anything we did would reflect well or poorly on our family.

Oh God no. They are still babies.

I saw it here on FR. It was titled something like, ‘Second Sex Scandal rocks Obama kids school.”

Not very interesting....but it was shows that if you are near these kids (Pailin or Obama) you fall under the microscope as well.

I don’t know about Utah but there are plenty of places that high speed driving is not appropriate. OTOH there are plenty of places where high speed driving is OK. Regardless, kids should not be driving until they know how to handle a vehicle well. And I am not talking about high school drivers ed. Skids, spins, crash avoidance, education and experience, why cars do what they do. Even with that kids are still at risk when driving, poor judgement. Most of us don’t develop judgment until somewhat later in life. Some of us not so much at all.

They should know by now that people are watching them. Is it fair as opposed to other teens? Well, probably if she was speeding. My sons had a couple. But I wasn’t thinking about being President.

There may be numerous reasons why you shouldn't be president, but your son's speeding tickets aren't one of them.

Well, I agree, but you surely know enough to see how numerous negtives get going in the media.

As I said, my kids sure weren’t perfect and I don’t think the Palin’s are bad parents, but that is just me.

However I do think they need to jump on Willow real soon or she may end up getting preggers or in serious trouble. Too many traffic tickets and people giving you a pass because of politics, won’t help the kid in the long term.

I have heard Willow is a kind of rebellious one.

I agree Willow should be grounded.

Liberal 16-year olds NEVER speed. Ever.

Not in vehicles, anyway.

Oh! You meant, "go fast"; not speed. Or crack. Or ruffies. Or....

Yup! That SUV KIDNAPPED the poor girl, and those idiot state troopers didn’t rescue her!

Noooooo; instead, they ignored her pleas for help, gave her a ticket, and let the danged Escalade go on its merry way, still holding her hostage!

You do indeed deserve a Pulitzer for the accuracy and honesty of your reporting the hypothetical MSM spin.

OTOH, were the MSM to report this, then they should receive a Pull It, Sir! Prize:

Dear Lord!

Aunt Nellie, pass me the smelling salts.

That Palin girl was speeding on an Alaskan highway!

Good Grief!

I love that Dodge Challenger / George Washington commercial, too! It’s a great commercial.

Ohhhh; there’s one that looks very much like that near the Klamath Marsh, in southern Oregon...except the shoulderless protion, where it has open water on each side instead of those big, wide margins.

I was doing 80+ over it, and was passed like I was sitting still by a BFT hauling a load of I-beams.

Other than her age/lack of experience, not much to see in this.

It almost makes you forget we have an unqualified Narcissist with a Mussolini complex running (ruining) our wonderful Country.

I must be a silly old guy, but I still get a lump in my throat when I see a patriotic representation of our Country, whether hearing the Star Spangled Banner, watching a Jet Fighter flyover, seeing one of our wonderful Military men and women in uniform or even looking at a silly Muscle Car commercial. Must be why I spend way too much time on Free Republic.

“It would be foolhardy to drive like that,”

Yup. Teenaged kids do foolhardy things sometimes. Sometimes they drive too fast. Then the cops give them a ticket. Sometimes they lose their license for a while as a result.

It happens all the time.

It doesn’t mean the kid is insane. It just means the kid is normal.

It is certainly not worth making it international news.

Unless of course someone has an agenda....

Now it was traditional for the mothers and wives to take care of the kids in first century Israel. But are you really holding that up as a role model? Come on, you can do better than that.
I can do no better than suggesting as a role model the Mother of God. IMO Sarah's kids (currently) need her more than America does. I know this article is typical daily Daily Mail sensation, but if a 16-year-old, going 84 m.p.h. doesn't add up to "wake-up" concern for Sarah, I'm not sure what would. I'm glad Willow was ticketed. That cop may have saved her life.

“We know she was driving 84 mph in a 65 mph zone.”

In NC, you automatically lose your license if caught do more than 15 MPH over the posted speed limit. So if you’re doing 84 on a 65 MPH (which on a clear day and in light traffic doesn’t strike me as all that dangerous), you lose your license. Automatic. No questions asked. Of course, this law has spawned a cottage industry of lawyers who will, for a few hundred dollars (and perhaps 5 minutes of their time in court) “plea bargain” your case down to “reckless driving” or some similar offense. You still pay a fine, the lawyer pockets a fat fee, but you don’t lose your license. Pardon me for considering this an absurd racket.

The point being that if Alaska were as stupid as NC, Willow would have lost her license for this little drive on the wild side.
