I remember all of the conspiracy theories in mid 80s that the person in Spandau Prison was not the real Hess. I think 60 minutes even ran a story on that. I cannot remember but I thought Aleister Crowley was going to meet with up him at some point at the request of Ian Fleming.

Hess’ solo-flight to Britain was one of the more interesting little episodes of the 20th century. Lots of gaps. You can paint it any which way.

I was thinking along those same lines. I recall several TV shows about hi being the sole prisoner at Spandau. Quite a bit of controversy as to his identity.
I cannot remember the details, but something about his, or the prisoner, refusing to meet with family members or something like that. Not quite sure of the details.

"I remember all of the conspiracy theories in mid 80s that the person in Spandau Prison was not the real Hess." I read a book by a Brit doctor who examined Hess at Spandau in the 70's. Hess had been shot through the chest in WWI; the bullet had damaged at least one lung and then exited out his back. The odd thing is the guy in Spandau didn't have any scars on his torso.
