A GOP frontrunner in the party's 2012 primary with a checkered past on health care, Mitt Romney produced a rather bold headline today with his op-ed in the USA Today: As first act, out with ObamaCare.
"Health care is more than just one-sixth of the American economy. It is a source of well-being for individuals and families. We are blessed with much that is good in American health care. But we have taken a turn for the worse with ObamaCare, with its high taxes and vastly expanded federal control over our lives. I believe the better course is to empower the states to determine their own health care futures."

We’re not supposed to be a land of executive orders, but laws legally implemented through our Congress and signed by the President.
It’s exciting to think that he could do this, but the Imperial Presidency is the real menace to liberty.
“the Imperial Presidency is the real menace to liberty.”
Understood in theory, but it’s hard to argue that an executive order in the service of reversing a law of such overreaching proportions as PPACA would harm liberty. Undoing the handiwork of Nancy Pelosi should by even the strictest definition be viewed as a major blow for freedom. If we’re lucky, SCOTUS will spare whomever is elected as Republican president in 2012 from this unpleasant but necessary task.
SCOTUS is why we need to have a Republican Congress and President for the next term.
The only issue for me is the precedent. Our system is designed for a strong Congress and therefore is meant to be slow to change, contemplative with a lot of debate and Federal with the 50 states acting as laboratories. If any president can undo with the stroke of the pen our laws then we’re essentially a one-man rule country and that’s a dictatorship.
Remember Clinton’s stroke of the pen, law of the land quote?
He just found a way around it - Federalism.
I don’t care what you think! I’m voting for the party’s nominee. Period.
I don’t care what you think! I’m voting for the party’s nominee. Period.
Just remember, whenever you encourage something you’re going get more of it. The RINOs great hope is that you will vote for what ever commie they choose to run. Their only fear is that you won’t reward them with your vote. So the best way to discourage them and teach them to stop running RINOs, is to remain silent. Tell them you will only accept conservatives period. Once you walk into that booth, you can do whatever you choose but don’t telegraph what you will do ahead of time. Don’t let anyone know what you are going RINO.
To tell the world you’ll vote for Karl Marx as long as he has an “R” next to his name is to assure us that the Beltway boys will never learn. These elites and party people will only run RINOs like themselves until they see that ‘we the people’ are serious about throwing them out on their rear ends.
I’m one of those who will never again vote for any RINO or elitist because I know our nation will not continue to exist if all we have are Marxist democrats and socialist republicans running. You may not be like me, but you can still help. Let the world know you support conservatives. But don’t stab us in the back by telling them you’ll vote for anything with an R next to their name.
You like Romney because he is a serious truther.
You like Romney because he is a serious IAG supporter.
You like Romney because he covered up the BIG-DIG.
You like Romney because he imposed gay marriage.
You like Romney because he imposed RomneyCARE (ObamaCARE).
No one else will vote for the backstabbing carpetbagger
originally from Mexico.
You’re an azz. Where did I say I liked Romney?
I said I’ll vote for him if he is the nominee. But I’ll bet you’re too dense to figure that one out.
Mitt Romney, the Republican Party’s Obama.
