Don’t cast aspersions on janitors. They have practical expertise, don’t mind real work, and the ones at my kids’ schools are down-to-earth and friendly. That’s not a job Obama would be well-suited for.

A janitor is a “doorkeeper”, and true to this linguistic root, I remember that the school janitor always had an impressive ring of keys. I also remember that he took his own authority very seriously, and enforced it enthusiastically, so that he was a sort of Lord of the Underworld ... that is the hallways.

Having noticed this, I saw its generalization in the power wielded by low level functionaries in all capacities, which I came to think of as the “Janitor Syndrome”.

But I agree this has nothing to do with Obama, who is just the other thing ... the ineffectual Principal Poop.
