Damn right, she took an oath! That's what we do in the military, (I'm a vet), we take an oath to defend our country with our lives and we take it seriously. Men have sworn, served and died after taking that oath so you can't be surprised when I refuse to support a person who chose not to fufill their oath of office.

Nothing in the oath she took precluded her from stepping down in order to 'save' her family and end the endless salvos of lawsuits. Now I am not a vet so maybe in your way of thinking I have NO 'right' to say what I think. See now I find it abhorrent the nonstop frivolous law suits were filed for the purpose of either bankrupting her and her family or to run her out of the office. Even some battles require an evaluation IF a different or wiser path wins the war.

Personally, while I like her, my concern is whether or not her loyalty to lord McCain has forever tainted her credibility. He is not credible to me and I only voted for his ticket because she was on the ballot.

... and every day you stayed in office would further damage your state.

This is your idea of a great candidate?

“Palin cut and ran from the state of Alaska, eliminating her from any serious consideration for President. “

Do you really believe that. She put her family first. Quite obviously you are not a MOTHER or you would understand entirely. She protected hers and then she let lose.

This woman has more character than your argument against her. So she left her Governorship, but not empty, she ensured it was left in good hands. She also freed Alaska from being the brunt of every crack-pot the left had to offer.

Wake up please. She did what she had to do, and most honest Americans know that they would have done the same thing. Name ONE PERSON who has been attacked nearly as much as her.

People Love her. I would die for her, because she is my kind of people. If someone is not willing to protect their family, how the heck can we trust them with the country?

You sir, I commend you on your service to the country, but you are wrong on this.

Didn't answer the question

. If you had been in the same position, would you have stayed in office even if it damaged your state?

You don't think Bush I, Clinton, Bush II and Obama have faced frivilous lawsuits? It comes with the job and she couldn't handle it on a state level. Yet her cheerleaders/enablers think law suits will magically go away if she's elected President. Again, Palin quit on Alaska, Americans will never give her the opportunity to quit on the country.

Palin faced personal financial ruin, if she stayed where she was.

Liberals had her targeted for ruin, and unfortunately the laws in Alaska meant, they would succeed.

She avoided that personal ruin by standing down, to the disappointment of some of us - this one of us, after learning the reasons - accepted her decision. She did not “surrender”, that’s hysterical misrepresentation on your part. Not sure why, but obviously you have some bug up your butt. Probably too hot is all.

You apparently did not bother to learn her reasons. Or perhaps you have some other agenda.

Either way, you’re becoming tiresome in your whining.

Get a hobby. Please.

Thanks.

Great for her family but she took an oath to the "STATE", and she didn't fulfill it.

Oh, she fulfilled her oath, she just didn’t complete her term. Now, are you going to answer the question of whether or not you would have stayed on even if it hurt the state?

Hell Yeah, if you can't tell by my posts I kinda believe in this oath thingy. She campaigned and asked for the peoples vote & I doubt she did it with a "family caveat" time out.

Exactly what are the words to this 'oath'? Was it not to serve the people, and I am sorry using the liberal idol word state really makes your argument impotent. Maybe you have forgotten, it is 'we the people' that are the state not a fixation on an inanimate liberal icon.

I didn't mention family. Her state had become collateral damage in a personal war waged against her by Democrat operatives.

If you don't see that you are a f'n idiot. If you do you are a fraud. In either case you aren't worth my time.

just wondering if you have always put your ego before the good of the unit? And I'm really sorry you were passed over for promotion by a skirt.

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Alaska, and that I will faithfully discharge my duties as Governor to the best of my ability.”

Sir, I do not see anything in this oath implying that it cannot be terminated, with or without cause. One might easily imagine situations in the normal course of events when leaving the post in an orderly transfer of power can be considered a faithful discharge of duties, especially when events have compromised “the best of [one’s] abilities”.

The strident tenor of your argument betrays a certain lack of confidence in its conclusions. I believe you are right: you’ve got “quitter issues”. You don’t know when to quit. The best time to quit is long before people get bored and walk away, leaving you ranting all alone.

Yawn.

Simple minded people have the same opinion as you. Never surrender!

Did not MacArthur sorta lose the Philippines and then come back later?

Did not the US military get their butts kicked at the Chosin Reservoir and then come back later?

You pick your battles. Any commander who loses manpower and treasure fighting a battle that they cannot win is a stupid commander.

If you are in a battle that you cannot win and there is no earthly reason to continue, withdraw and live to fight another day.

Darn that General Washington for retreating every time the British got close with their overwhelming numbers. He should have stayed and fought (and lost with honor.)

Your opinion of Governor Palin’s decision shows a lack of experience on your part.

Well, if you read the oath carefully and reflect upon what was going on up there in Alaska at the time, the oath would make it incumbent upon Mrs. Palin to step aside if she felt that circumstances made it impossible for her to faithfully discharge her duties.

What Mrs. Palin showed in resigning is that she more interested in making sure that the Governor of Alaska is spending her time governing and not being held hostage to Obama operatives.

And you gotta know that they rue the day that she quit. Things haven’t been the same for Barry since that day.

You mean that you would have bankrupted your family and lost your home and business to pay off the legal fees accumulated by defending yourself against frivolous lawsuits. She made the only decision possible to keep from losing everything her family had worked for. Evidently, you do not feel that the preservation of your family and property is worth the sacrifice. It is always easy to criticize another person for their actions, but what would you really do if you were faced with the same disaster.

Question...

If concern for her family's finances (which is not the excuse she most often used) was enough to get her to quit as governor, then what would be enough to get her to quit as POTUS?

You are arguing religion with Moonies. They live in a Sarah can do no wrong fantasy. The rest of the country sees quitting for what it is.

As for her excuse, BOR asked her about it and she said absolutely nothing about the lawsuits or her finances. The excuse she gave him was that she was a lame duck (with a year and a half left) and didn't want to put the people of Alaska through having a lame duck governor.

Which leads to another question...

Since Palin quir to avoid being a lame duck with a year and a half left as governor, why would we expect her to finish a full term as POTUS?

Isn’t there a sign somewhere to not feed the PDS Trolls? I wish she could have finished the term but the rules for her as Alaska Governor is much different that they will be as President.
