Yes, bring back the med school and NIH funding with it. USDA overhead is only about 23% or so, while NIH, EPA, and others pay the full 50% or thereabouts. It is all about research funding and overhead dollars.
The new research center will also help as well. I am just amazed that the AAU ,which is based on research, simply doesnt weigh USDA dollars equally. If the USDA money was weighed Nebraska would have been ranked higher in the AAU and would not be threatened with expulsion. Lets face it though the chancellors, regents etc new for the last decade that they will be targeted and simply didn’t do what was needed to stabilize the tenuous position with in the AAU.
