Bowie knife (pronounced /ˈboʊ.iː/ BOW-ee[1][2][3] or /ˈbuː.iː/ BOO-ee[3]) is a style of fixed-blade knife first popularized by Colonel James "Jim" Bowie in the early 19th Century. It was first made by James Black, although its common use refers to any large sheath knife with a clip point.
The "Jim Bowie knife" first became famous due to Bowie's use of a large knife at a duel known as the Sandbar Fight. The knife pattern is still popular with collectors; in addition to various knife manufacturing companies there are hundreds of custom knife makers producing Bowies and variations.

SOG makes great knives. I have a couple of the “Seal Pups”, one for camping and one for kayaking, and a folding, spring assist pocket knife I carry every day. Very pleased with all of them. High quality stuff.

In Massachusetts, knives are basically outlawed.
I had trouble a few years back at a Christmas party for cutting a rib with a Buck folder, rather than the plastic knife they gave us.
In some places people can only be trusted with sporks and plastic knives.

I'm not trying to promote this guy one way or another, but he was great to work with and honest as the day is long. I carry two knives everyday and everywhere; more consistently than the S&W.

Given to me by my Navy Seal [tragically lost in a boating accident. Dang!]

San Antonio actually prohibits lockback knives under 5” blade length (state prohibits ‘em over 5”), unless you use it in your work. Hunh? I fully intend, if ever questioned, to say I use my Boker Armed Forces lockback to open my mail at the office.
The supposed idea behind City Council passing the ordinance was to crank down on the gangbangers, but really - this is Texas!
