Off with their hats! It was bigger than the Super Bowl and as tacky as a legion of Elvis impersonators. Most of all, it was disturbingly white. Yesterday's little wedding of William and Kate, a worldwide showcase of dreadful hats, fad diets and an unusually sour, lemon-yellow-clad queen, was designed to prove to the common man that the royals, finally, were down with the people. But from the moment a triumphant Kate tiptoed with her dad onto the red carpet -- yes, she walked an actual red carpet to and from the altar -- I saw not a potential queen. Kate bore the look of a lithe human sacrifice. Or was she ready to faint from her starvation diet? Her mouth smiled. But in her eyes -- terror. Who can blame her? Kate waited eight years for this moment, outlasting an endless parade of bimbos and stunning babes, most of them blond, at least five of them wedding guests (go figure, Brits), to win the hand of the badly balding heir to the throne. These had to be the second-most dorky words ever to emerge from the mouth of a prince, after Wills' dad's unfortunate musings on becoming Camilla's feminine hygiene product. Who is that one little girl - in all the photos she has that same sour look on her face like she was constipated and wanted to be anywhere but there. Is that an English tradition? Seems like there was a little sour nymph at Charles and Diana’s wedding too.
OK, what I heard on TLC about the pregnant woman in the high high heels - she is a fashion designer and he is a football (soccer) star.
I thought it was beautiful too. Westminster Abbey was just fabulous. The bride was so tastefully beautiful and William looked very happy though awed a bit.
The hats were kooky, but expected.
I live in a suburb of KCMO. Until about 20 years ago it was pretty much a white suburb but now it is very racially diverse and unlike some areas where that happens, its a wonderful place to live. But the courthouse has a bunch of wonderful photos of the early days of the county and yup, you guessed it, there were complaints about too many white people. sigh.

Thought the queen looked happy and very nice, - pretty shade of yellow on my Samsung anyway. After this person’s whinging and that of someone on the view I went back and checked out the crowd shots in the street - few, if any, dark faces but guess the dark faces ‘chose’ to stay home. Didn’t see one sign or placard saying they weren’t wanted.
Did Fergie’s daughters look even more like the ugly step sisters because of their hats - oh, yeah.

What you did and continue to do, is state an opinion which is based on lack of knowledge, but bound in emotion.
The monarch, as well as other royals are constrained by policy and tradition, which strictly prohibits them from saying/doing precisely what you not only want then to do, but also what you then called them names for not doing.

Conservative patriotic merit-loving tradition-minded Americans don’t see the british royal family as role models of anything but bad behavior.
If these royals actually seemed interested in upholding traidtional moral values, then there might be some redeeming value in their example. But their example is horrendous and there is nothing to emulate in their behaviors. Nothing.
