The last news I saw about the E-Cat was that Rossi had an offer from some prestigious American university to test his claims.
Haven’t seen anything on whether he allowed that testing or not.

It was MIT. Rossi said, “Buy one and you can test it all you want” so somesuch. Didn’t see a “buy here” link on his site, though...

If you put your working product into production and deploy it, you can laugh at the universities.
If you do it on a large enough scale, you can destroy the careers of your nay sayers - maybe even severely damage major universities in the ensuing scandal.
Assuming one has an ax to grind.
