I am so glad the first couple were not invited. Michelle would have been a horrible embarassment. She probably would have found out the Queen was wearing yellow and turned up in a sleeveless yellow number, wearing heels and the biggest hat on the planet.

I think the Royals’ decision not to invite the Bamas kind of precluded inviting other high profile Americans.
I’m sure the Bushes would have been invited, if it had not been for that. the Queen really liked President Bush.

This wasn't a "state" function, therefore there was no "reason" to invite the Obama's, as I understood it. I'm sure there are many FReepers with a better understanding than mine, but I think a lot of the other "dignitaries" invited had to do with British affiliation (i.e. Canada, Australia) and "familial ties", no matter how remote.
With that said, the Bushes' have such class, that even if they had been invited I would bet they would have declined just on the basis of the Obama's not being invited --- of course that is just me.

Basically: Heads of Government of Commonwealth countries, other royal families, personal friends, workers on charities William is a sponsor of. It's now at 1900 before inviting Americans - one must draw a line somewhere.

Did she ask why there wasn’t a Half Black Marxist there?”
That was the very point of her little screed wasn’t it?
All the MSM was snotty about it because their messiah and his wookie weren’t invited.

No more an Englishman than the descendants of Boers are Africans, IMO. To each his own.
