I’m not going to get on the sanctimonious soapbox others have ascended today, but statistically, especially for younger couples, divorce rates are higher for couples who have lived together before marriage than for those who haven’t.
Apparently, the parties are often play-acting while co-habitating outside of marriage. Then, once the union is legalized, they become ‘themselves.’ That rather upsets the ‘knowing who s/he is’ before tying the knot theory.
maybe my wife and I must be different after all these years because we understood each other after living together and we knew if we we could make it by understanding how we live.
