World's Best Pizza [Best pizzas from around the world, according to Yahoo]
Yahoo ^ | 4/26/11 | Jada A. Graves

What is it about pizza that makes us love it so much? Is it the savory cheeses, the pliable crust or the aromatic sauce? Perhaps it's the customizable nature of the treat. Each pizza is different; across the country -- the world, even -- foodies get to compliment their pies with the toppings they most love. You can call it an Italian creation, an American staple or even a Brazilian standby, but one thing's for sure: we all crave pizza. But where should you expect to taste the best slice?

*Without a doubt, the best pizza is from Aurillio’s in the Chicago area.*

Aurillio’s is pretty good. I used to go to the one in Chicago Hts. I liked the spice shakers on the table. I’ve tried NY style pizza that was recommended by a dozen New Yorkers and 3 or 4 people from NJ. Chicago pizza is better to me. However, NW Indiana has the best pizza IMHO. Chicago is very, very close what with all the great ones like Gino’s East, etc. But people would come FROM Chicago to Hammond for House of Pizza. They’ve been there since the early or mid-fifties.

I used to get pizza from Rosati’s when I lived in Illinois. I still have their keychain after being gone for 5 years!

There’s a couple of dishes my mom used to make when I was little that were obviously ways to feed a big Catholic family on a very limited budget. One was a tasty macaroni dish with tomatoes, onion, and just a bit of bacon.

My mother used to make the same thing for me and my 6 siblings, but used ground beef in instead of bacon. We still make it today, but top it with shredded mozzarella.

My vote for the absolute worst pizza in the world would go to Little Caesars.

Rosati's is pretty good "Chicago style" thin crust pizza.

I'm also fond of Giordano's, which is a Chicago area chain that happens to have three restaurants in the Orlando area (where I now live). They have been a lifesaver when I've had an urge for a non New York style pizza down here. :-)

Regina Pizzeria, In Boston’s north end

There used to be a lot of good places in the North End for pizza. Our favorite was the European, till the Feds closed them down for a number of reasons. Santarpio's was pretty good too. I used to work with one of the owner's daughters and she'd bring them to work on occasion.

When the wife is out of town me and the dogs make that pizza. We make it a pizza and popcorn guys movie night. The only way now they can catch popcorn is if I zing at them. They can catch 100mph popcorn. They, of course love meatlovers style pizza, no veggies.

Lol. Of course, right next to paramedics and emergency room personnel, pizza makers are our national heros.

I do not know how to take your post.

Used to do concrete form work and steel frames.

Before that a sourcing agent purchasing high end semi's for what toady has manifest into these little gadgets half of us would die without.

I do what I do today because it is better than collecting or starving... And I got a culinary arts degree after HS because my father demanded I have at least one necessary skill. He was an internal control auditor, but always kept his barbershop. There are four or so fundamentals that guarantee survival, it is good to have experience in at least one.

Have you tried Il Vicino? I’ve been to the one in Santa Fe and noticed there are 3 in ABQ.

Take it as a compliment. I love pizza! If people like stopped making pizza it would be the darkest day.

Near 80 replies, and not one mention of Totinos? Did no one ever have to roll pennies to buy a pizza in college? Suppose it is safe to assume no one ever put macaroni and cheese on one either. Jeez.. :)

A little too “frou-frou” for me.

Other good one’s in ABQ are Pizza Castle (family run hole in the wall), Mario’s (2 locations), and Dion’s (local chain I support because they hire really nice kids instead of the lowest common denominator, and the owner is a skeet shooter like me).

There’s a (or was) a nice hole in the wall pizza place in SF in an old house, haven’t been there in years.
