...Superman announces that he is going to give up his U.S. citizenship. Despite very literally being an alien immigrant, Superman has long been seen as a patriotic symbol of "truth, justice, and the American way," from his embrace of traditional American ideals to the iconic red and blue of his costume. What it means to stand for the "American way" is an increasingly complicated thing, however, both in the real world and in superhero comics, whose storylines have increasingly seemed to mirror current events and deal with moral and political complexities rather than simple black and white morality.

Clicked the wrong tab? That’s okay...done that myself. No worries.
Entirely appropriate, since Rao is also the name of Krypton's sun.
“I never knew comic book characters could even be citizens.”
Only if they can show us a birth certificate.
“Will the next issue have him threatening to move to France if Barry doesnt win the next election? He can join Mr. Baldwin there I guess.”
Nah. He’ll just move into the Fortress of Solitude and together with Santa Claus declare the North Pole an independent state. The UN will recognize it, and then start accusing them of oppressing Eskimos.
Who cares he was an illegal alien anyway. ;>)
Nam Vet
he actually was paralyzed, then contracted the flu and died if I’m not mistaken.

Nah...DC started using 'Gaia' as a character back inthe 90's...
This is the idiots in suits thinking this will help their foreign sales by killing the US sales.
Superman was and is always supposed to be a popular culture icon of AMERICA. Life, Liberty, and the American way.
This goes back to the reboot writers trying to make jimmy olson a homosexual.
At least he hasn’t turned Gay.....yet!
Given that, why isn’t Superman the President ? It worked for His Most Golfing Excellency, Obamandias the One. . . .
“Why would this be surprising. Anyone remember the Red Son abomination that DC put out in 2003?”
Yes, I own a copy. And if you read it you see the “What If?” of Superman growing up in the USSR and eventually learning the err of his ways when Lex Luthor defends American freedom at the end and America triumphs.
It’s frankly a classic.
Love it!!!
You are correct...1994 or 1995 was the horseriding accident that left him paralyzed. (I actually met him in 1987, nice guy.) He was a speaker at the DNC convention in 1996, and was used as a prop by the Breck Girl, John Edwards, in the 2004 campaign...probably was used as a prop in 1996 too (willingly or otherwise), but i wasn’t following politics nearly as closely as I did in 2004, or do today.
“Even Superman is tired of Obamas BS.
He doesnt want to be associated with this disaster of a government,,,”
Which, according to libs, makes Superman a racist. Wonder if libs realize he is turning his back on The One?
Who has a scalpel that will work? :-)
