Ripley’s believe it or not. I saw this picture and thought that Pablo and friends would appreciate it as well. Please ping others if it makes you laugh.

I knew a guy who liked to sniff paint and glue. His favorite was silver spray paint; he somehow thought that gave him the best buzz.

It just goes to show that a good number of people will do anything to escape reality, even when most intoxicants are outlawed or unavailable. Addiction is always self-medication for serious issues. Yet we ban chemicals, imprison mentally ill people for holding them, make people more ill and do nothing to treat their underlying illness.
My great grandmother was telling me about alcoholics in Russian gulags that would make a stew from leather scraps and inhale the vapors to get “drunk”. Others were good at making all sorts of concoctions from random weeds. When their drug of choice was taken away, they would move on to something else. Heck, one could even make a brain-damaging hallucinogenic drug by collecting crap in a bag and letting it ferment.
Drug abuse and self-medication is a symptom of a sick society, not the cause.

Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn’t, didn’t already have
and Cause never was the reason for the evening
or the tropic of Sir Galahad
If you huff enough of that stuff, the lyrics actually start to make sense.

Yeesh. Huffing paint. Add this to the list of “stuff I just don’t get”.
Don’t get me wrong... I’ve done my share of recreational chemistry over the years. [cough] OK... decades... I’ve done lots of stuff— though never did needles. Hate needles. I don’t care how good the payoff is. But aside from that if you can smoke it or eat it I’ve pretty much been there done that.
But just damn... even a pretty severe stoner knows what sort of stuff directly, and immediately, goes in and dissolves bits of brain. There’s so much good stuff out there that is relatively safe... why screw with the stuff you know is just corrosive?
