Did I say no more Jimmy Stewart for the duration? I guess MGM had this one in the can before Stewart went off to the wild blue yonder.

The review is none to glowing, but I look forward to seeing this flick anyway. I mean, It’s got Lana Turner and Hedy Lamarr for drop-dead gorgeous, the inimitable mega-talent of Judy Garland, and one more dose of Mr. Stewart. I’ll put up with a slightly sagging story line.

It’s sometimes hard to believe that big, soulful, tearful voice is coming out of such a young girl.

Garland was an immense talent who should have happily retired with scads of money——but she was destroyed by Hollywood and the creeps that inhabit it.....including the execrable David Begelman, a forger, and a husband or two, who stole her blind.

Interesting that the phone area——Butterfield 8——is mentioned in 1941.

John O’Hara’s novel was made into the “Butterfield 8” movie with Elizabeth Taylor in 1960.

I miss phone exchanges that MEANT something. Butterfield 8 represented the ‘silk stocking’ district of Manhattan before area codes and multiple area codes in one small region now that everyone has cell phones.

Fascinating how novelists get inspired—even from a phone exchange.

I once read that James Michener was in the Navy in the South Pacific during the war and was taken with the name -—Bali Hai. He even wrote it down.

Later he wrote the novel Tales of the South Pacific-—which was turned into a marvelous play and movie-—with the beautiful song called Bali Hai.

I love this picture — dialogue, love scenes, musical numbers, faces! Did I say I love this picture?

Very nice. Thank you.

Lana's outfit there looks like it might have set off alarms with the Hays committee.

I kept thinking Judy musta felt so inadequate-—standing midst the two goddesses.

Then again, the goddesses could not sing like she did.
